So What Happened?

late with my response, but thank you. Now i know why ppl do this! i liked the answers. not everyone is going to agree with you or what you type. if you are coming on a public forum, you need to learn to take positive criticism, but i do agree, some posts are just flat out stupid! thanks all!

It means that the person who posted the question decided to delete his/her question afterwards, and the only way to do that is to replace the text with something else, such as a letter or dots. It's actually a somewhat annoying thing to do because other people went to the trouble of typing in answers and once the original question is eliminated, someone else with a similar question can't benefit from those answers. However, that's why you see a few posts like that.

Some folks can't STAND it if the answers to their question aren't what they wanted them to be. Standard response is that they'll first throw a tantrum in their So What Happened. When other members remind the OP that this isn't a site where everyone agrees or capitulates, she'll usually say something like, "I can't believe you b*tches are so awful. I just wanted some help. You're meanie meanheads. I'm leaving FOREVER!"

We call this The Flounce.

The Flounce is usually followed by a couple of members who'll post some version of "Bye, Felicia, Bye."

And then the OP will remove their question and leave a "..." But they can't remove our answers. It's fun to figure out what they asked based upon the answers. MMP archaeology.

So there you have it. Flouncing 101. Welcome to MMP.

People don't like what others had to tell them or they just freak out in some way about what they shared.

I find it extremely annoying.

Jennifer, I loved your response. Classic!!

Flouncer . Usually because they don't like the answers they received so they delete the question and sometimes change the nickname to ... ...

It's frustrating when people have taken the time to honestly give thoughts and opinions then someone flounces.

Oh well... Maybe they can't take the heat if it's a heated post?

ETA - Jennifer T - LOVE THAT - asshurt!!! Consider this a dozen flowers for you!

Usually? It's from someone who posted something really personal and decided not to leave it out there...

or someone who was pissed at the answers received because the responders did NOT support their way of thinking or belief and did what we call a "flounce" - they removed their question and said something nasty to us - and when the person was satisfied that people had read it? removed it entirely.

Pretty sad, eh?

If the posts are gone right away, it usually means the original poster didn't like the answers. Sometimes it means that they are afraid someone they know will see and recognize it. (Like a jerk husband.) Sometimes it means that they are afraid someone will share it with Facebook. For reasons I can't understand, there is now a facebook share button to click on. (Another good reason not to put your real name on this site, ever...)

Sometimes people remove their posts after a few years. Usually that means that someone on here was nasty to the original poster, sending them lots of rude private messages, stalking them, etc. Lovely...

Anyway, removal of posts and questions doesn't always mean flouncing. Some people do have good reasons for it. (But a lot of them are flouncing.)

So there ya go!

yes, you're missing the original post. Somebody posted, got offended or their panties in a twist, and deleted it. It doesn't delete the responses they got, though.

Someone posted a question, the answers were overwhelming the opposite of what she wanted to hear and since there's no way to delete the question the original questioner replaced it with ....

I have to say there are times that the responses are un-neccessarily mean. I think there is almost always a way to respond graciously and show some undeserved favor to the question asker. I say almost always - becuase once in a while there are some questions that require a strong response - but they are few and far between.

Bottom line - when you ask a question expect to get at least half of the people giving you an answer you don't want to hear. If you expect that you won't be disppointed or hurt when you read the answers.
