Well just found out I'm pregnant!! Although I'm excited I'm super scared we have a 9 1/2mth old and hubby was looking into joining the army just last week. Now I'm stumped we don't know what to do should he go ahead with the army? Anybody else have advice for having babies so close together.

What can I do next?

I have Irish triplets! Three boys under three years old. We're all still alive and kicking. It's a busy life, but it's fine. Get out and about to mothers groups and other kid friendly stuff. My advice is not to be too precious about Being a 'perfect mom', even without home-made, free-range organic baby food, or three hours a day of reading practice with Mommy, your children can grow into happy, well adjusted human beings. One of the greatest gifts you can give a child is a sibling. Congratulations.

YAY for you!!!!
The Army is a guaranteed payheck. Guaranteed health care, DOD has some pretty good schools and there is a chance you can get stationed in Germany or other places.
We have 4. Number one was born the day my hubby graduated Matine bootcamp. It's not so bad.
Yes he wil deploy, but military wives take care of their own. When on base you will live with other wives in your same boat. HUbbies will be deployed, one will always be pregnant, there are always toddlers around. If you are lucky one might have a teen to babysit.

Good luck and congratulations.

I think you are blessed. I know a girl who got pregnant and had 2 kids 11 months apart. I know two others that have the same space as yours.
The kids are close and when diapers are done, diapers are done.
I wish I had an Irish Twin for my girl.

If he's going to join, it's best to join now! That way he will have completed enough training that he will be able to come home for the birth. It will suck being pregnant on your own, but if you enlist the help and support of your friends and family now they should be able to help. That way, you will be able to use the insurance from your husband, and he will have that steady paycheck. The first while will be hard, while he is finishing all of his training... but once he's past that, you will be able to move on base with him (or off base, with a military housing allowance...)

My brother is in the marines. He was actually deployed for the birth of his first child. It really sucked, but SIL said that she preferred that he was there when the baby was older, and needed more attention. He was there for the birth of his daughter though.

The main thing is to make sure that you have a strong support system at home. You could even look into joining a support group.

It's like Margie M says... it can be hard, but it's stable. Stability in this economy is always nice.

I come from a military family... Grandpa retired Army, other grandpa retired Air Force, my dad was Army, uncle Navy, uncle Marine... I was Air Force, brother Marine. LOL! Military life is really about how you look at it...

Congratulations! My kids are two years apart, and I was so worried about how they'd get along since they were so close in age (I thought they'd fight all the time). Well, they do fight, but they are also really close and play together all the time. It's hard to have a baby and a toddler, but you can do it!

I wouldn't recommend having your husband enlist in the army, though. There might be a really good chance that he'll be deployed, and you definitely don't want to have a brand-new baby and toddler without your husband by your side. I have a friend whose husband is in the military, and he's deployed...it's been really hard for them. He likes what he does, but not only has he been in the Middle East for the past six months, but they also have had to move every three years. It's been hard for them (she's counting down the days until he gets back). But there are many who do it and love it, so it is totally up to what you and your husband believe is best your family. Good luck, and congratulations again!

It will workout. I am sure you are thinking how tired you will be. That is understandable. Get rest when you can after the baby is born and take ALL help that is offered!

My first 2 are 15 months apart and they are such great friends! I wouldn't have it any other way. ALSO, I was 6 months pregnant with my 3rd when my husband left for boot camp into the Navy. It was THE BEST decision we ever made!
I say go ahead with the Army. Insurance, job stability and it's such a great experience!
My husband is finishing up his 1st deployment. We have 4 kids, when the deployment started they were 5, 4, 2 and 6 months, and my kids have helped make it a breeze. I didn't know I was capable of so much on my own!

I noticed someone said something about not being able to live with him, but after boot camp we moved with my husband. It was discouraged, but I'm so glad we did!

PM me if you want to chat!

My boys are 16 months apart. The first few months were pretty difficult--my DH works ALOT of hours so most of the time I was on my own--but I wouldn't change anything for the world. Most women I spoke to about my fears told me the first 2 years would be awful, but after that it would actually be easier. Well, my youngest still is not 2, and yet I am loving my life! It is so fun to watch how those 2 interact. My older boy is always trying to "teach" my baby, and baby boy has started playfully teasing big brother. Again, I love it. This is definitely not what I had planned, but God truly knows best and all children are a blessing. Advice?-- Enjoy this time and stock up on diapers! I am so happy for you!

Irish twins! Congratulations! I would not want my husband to join the army with kids so young. Hopefully you can get some feedback here from army wives. I can't imagine it would be anything but hard though.
