I'm not sure if money is an issue, but I got my wedding cake from Wal-Mart. The cake was beautiful and it was way less expensive than the other bakeries or places. I also got a lot of compliments on the cake's appearance and flavor by guests.
I'll agree with Classic Cakes of Carmel I have ordered several cakes from them. They did a beautiful three tiered rolled fondant cake for my baby shower! Excellant cake flavors and fillings.
I'm not sure where you live but I live in Mooresville and my neighbor and good friend is getting Married in July and we went to Sugar Mamas here in Mooresville to get her cake they have the best flavors and best prices and let you taste test first and all that and the good thing about her cakes is that they don't taste store made, they taste like home made and they are most and the icing is hoemade we ordered one for our little girls 4th birthday and it looked like a princess castle and everyone loved it there wasn't any left, If you would like to check it out here is the phone number and address

Classic Cakes in Carmel did a fabulous job on our wedding cake. You can either pick it up yourself, or have it delivered. I believe the delivery fee charges depending on where they're delivering to. It would have been $50 to deliver to the 1400N block of Delaware.
I second sugar mama's in mooresville. The ladies that work there are so friendly. We ordered my son's 1st birthday cake there. A half sheet cake with a smash cake for him was $35...not bad! Especially since the cake tasted great and it was beautiful! They've got pictures upon pictures of ideas for cakes for all occasions. Give them a call!
I highly suggest going to cake testings!! My husband was all into the cake for our wedding. We went to Crawfords (I love their donuts, but they were not very helpful when it came to the testing. They just gave us a small piece of what was sitting in the case and it didn't taste very good.) We went to Taylors (they gave us an entire cake to take home and test - it was the yucky way too sugary gritty frosting kind - yuck). We went to Classic Cakes in Carmel. The cakes tasted pretty good, but they didn't win our hearts.
Heavenly Sweets in Noblesville was our winner!
We ordered our wedding cake there, my shower cake, our anniversary cakes for the past 3 years, all our birthday cakes. We call it "cake lady cake". Whenever our friends come over for a party they get excited and ask if we are haveing "cake lady cake." The owners name is Tanya and she is wonderful. She does a great little tasting with you and shows you how to mix her cakes, fillings and frostings for the most delicious combinations. Her buttercream icing is to die for as well. Don't be afraid of the apricot filling when she has you try it. We thought "no way" and it is now my absolute favorite. She uses creamy fillings instead of those gel looking kind. They are ... heavenly. You can tell her H. Tosh sent you. =)

I think Crawford's Bakery (located across the street from Methodist hosital) has the most delicious and beautiful wedding cakes. I order from them for all of my special occasions.
