Hi! I'm looking for a great birthday cake for my baby's first birthday. I live in Richardson but work in Addison. I'd be willing to drive into Dallas or Plano for the right cake as well. I am not a bad baker myself, but have no talent or skill when it comes to decorating, so I want a beautiful cake that is still tasty. Thanks!
I got my daughter's birthday cake at Delicious Cakes in Addison. We've actually gotten several cakes there and we love them. We LOVE to get our cakes from a lady who is working hard to get her storefront right now. Leslie's Cakes are amazing! We have never tasted any moister, or more flavorful....purely divine! She is always sweet and helpful. She works with us on all our options. She has a true talent for design and is always so creative and skillful when she decorates the cakes we order from her. You probably are not too far from Meringue Bakery (www.meringuebakery.com) they have a facebook page too. You can see pics of their work or go in and get a cupcake to sample the quality. For a budget cake I also recommend a United Market Street grocery store. They make all their cakes fresh, from scratch and will work with you on design. But because it is "fresh" you have choices like strawberry cake, etc...not just chocolate and vanilla.
I unconditionally recommend Samantha Wu...and i consider myself a tough sweets critic - I know what i like in taste & appearance and i can easily decline sweets for something healthy...but there is no possibility of resisting Samantha's cakes/cupcakes/etc. Samantha makes the best cakes I have ever tasted...she beats any wedding cake or other specialty cake i've tried. Not only are her cakes heavenly in taste but she is an artist...her work is exceptionally pleasing to the palate and to the eyes. Thus far, i have been fortunate to sample several of her incredible creations...3 cakes for a child's birthday party, 1 babyshower, and 2 adult birthdays...she can make a beautiful cake for any occassion. She offers serveral different types of cakes - my favorite is her chiffon with fresh fruit - simply a slice of heaven. Her repetoire is limitless. Moreover, she uses only the freshest and organic ingredients...really incredible! I am an advocate of eating healthy/organic so this is such a wonderful treat for me. someone else already said it but casa linda is the best. i had my daughters 1st bday cake made there and i had an idea of what i wanted and went in and talked to the people there and they really did a great job...plus they arent too expensive. we did a pumpkin theme since her bday is right before halloween and the cake was sooo cute, plus we got her a lilttle petit for (sp?) to actually have on her bday as her own little cake since the party was a week later. they have the best baked goods.
Casa Linda Bakery on Garland Rd in east Dallas - east of White Rock Lake makes the best cakes ever! I know people that travel a great distance to get their cakes there....good luck!

Delicious Cakes in Addison is AMAZING. Their princess flavor cake is the best. They did a perfect ladybug cake for my daughters first birthday. They also will make a smash cake (a little one for the birthday kid). Their cakes re worth every penny.

An independant baker named Tiffany Dyer did my daughter's 5th birthday cake last month - she was referred by a friend. She did a high end bakery style cake for a very small fraction of the cost! She works with you to get an idea of what you want, emails you sketches, makes changes you want, does exactly what you want within whatever price range you want, and makes it beautiful and super delicious. Our cake is on there - it is the heart shaped cake with CInderella and the cinderella coach. We had a strawberry cake - it was so moist and sooooo good!!!! Everyone loved it! I will go to her again and again.
