Water from Cooler STILL Tastes like Chemicals

Hello! We bought a water cooler a few weeks ago, and the water still tastes like it has chemicals in it. The cooler is the type that has the bottle in the bottom, then pumps the water up to dispense it. The instructions did say that we should run a couple of quarts of water through to remove the chemicals used to clean the tubes at the factory. We have run 5 gallons through!! It tastes (and smells) so strange that I won't let anyone drink it. We have tasted the water straight from the bottle and it's fine. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas of how I could get rid of this taste? I thought about vinegar or something, but my husband isn't keen. I think he's scared it will go from tasting of chemicals to tasting of the vinegar!! Thank you!

What can I do next?

I am not sure, but I would call the company. Maybe you just have a bad one and needs to be replaced.

Go to the Water Store in Lewisville on Main St. They have a product that we use to clean our cooler and the bottles. It has no smell or taste and works instantly. Additionally, the gentleman that owns the Water Store is very helpful with any kind of issues we have ever had with our cooler and we did not buy it from him. If you want to super clean the whole cooler system, use 50/50 distilled water and hydrogen proxide. Again, no smell, no taste, but it cleans really well and should remove any leftover chemicals. The vinegar is a good natural cleaner which I use a lot, but the smell is strong and lingering. If you do choose to use vinegar, be sure to dilute 50/50 with distilled water.

I've had good success with removing chemical tastes with vinegar and it did not leave any kind of aftertaste. If you are going to call the company, you may as well try the vinegar first.
