Watching the "Radical Parenting" Episode of Dr. Phil. Did You Watch It?

I'm so annoyed with the backlash at the joking Daddy who made the video with his 4 year old turning black. Obviously, it wasn't the greatest parenting moment of his life, but geez!!!!! He was joking!!!!!! Thoughts? I just don't think that they should have beat him up about being a racist. I'm not racist and would not put something like this on youtube, but the parents made a mistake. Plain and simple. They don't need to be crucified for it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

If I had only seen the video, I might have a different opinion. The dad explained it away.
Diane, I agree with you. My husband and I were just saying the same thing last night.

Look up "I don't want to turn black" on youtube.

I saw it, too and my problem was that he was "enjoying" making his child feel scared and hurt and cry. Really, what kind of parent intentionally emotionally hurts his own child? Daddies are supposed to protect their little girls (and boys, too) and not be the ones that cause the pain. So, that's why I thought he was a jerk...just my little ol' 2 cents :-)

I have more a problem of the emotional roller coaster he took his daughter on. I DID not think it was funny at all. To have her hysterical, make her laugh, and then tease her again. I think he should have just admitted he made a mistake and moved on. If you continue to defend a stupid act people will continue to fight you, you can't argue with an apology. I am sure he didn't mean any harm but his defense of the video is in my opinion is what made people furious. Children are not born racist, they are made to be racist, I do not feel that was his intension. Teasing a child and frustrating them is cruel!!! That was more of my issue.
