I am just wanting some opinions from moms that have had this procedure done. The few that I know also had a c-section at the same time so I want to know what to expect just getting my tubes tied? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I had mine done about 10 yrs ago. I had the most pain in my shoulders - I heard that it's because the dr. didn't get all the air out? He went thru my belly button & it was day surgery. I was raising 2 girls on my own & was positive that I didn't want anymore kids & I've never regretted it.

There is a new product on the market called Essure. It is a coil of sorts that is inserted into your fallopian tubes that the tissue in your tubes grows around and blocks your tubes. The great part about it is that it can be done in the doctor's office. The website to learn more about it is www.essure.com. While I have not had it done (just not sure if I want to take this step or not) I have talked to my doctor about it and it seems like a great alternative to a tubal ligation. The doctor I see is Stephen Farmer. His number is ###-###-####. He's located in Bedford right off of 121 and 183. Hope this helps!

I recently had a c-section with twins & tubal litigation (sp?). I have had no problems but remember you have a 95% chance of not getting pregnant. A 5% chance of getting pregnant, according to my physician.

I have had the Essure procedure that has been mentioned and I can say that it was well worth it. My procedure was done in the office 6 weeks after my last child was born. I went back to work the same day that I had the procedure. Minimal cramping. Did have heavy bleeding the first few weeks on and off, but now have very light period of just 2-3 days at most.I was sore and bruised but nothing like having tubes tied. If ya wanna know anymore, let me know.

I had my tubaligation done about 2 years ago. My doctor went through my belly button only. I already had a cut there from getting my gall bladder out a couple years before. It is an outpatient procedure. I can handle alot of pain, but I thought it was the worse surgery ever. I thought that getting my gall bladder out was a better surgery. But then again, when I went for that, it was an emergency surgery so it was just probably a relief. Do consult with your doctor prior to doing it, because it is permanent. Good luck with you with whatever decisions you make.

I have heard good and bad and i was scared due to all the bad I had heard but it was nothing at all I wish I had done it with my c section so I did not have to pay for the tubal seperate that is my only neg I have with it so good luck it is not bad at all..... I had my tubes tied about 10 months after my third son was born - and he is now 23. Would I do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat! But please be VERY sure you are through having children because, unlike vasectomy, it cannot be reversed. You will have to take it easy for a few days following surgery, but should be back to all normal routines within the week. It is done on an outpatient basis and you are put completely under, but when you come out, you are sterile - no waiting time at all. The tubal takes less than a half hour to perform and you are out of surgery in no time. I had 2 very tiny incisions, one inside the navel and the other right at the bikini line. Good luck with your decision!!
