How long have you been off the BCP? It can take 6months to 1 year for it to get out of your system all the way. How long have you been trying? Are your cycles regular? Do you know if you are ovulating? You can buy a basil body thermomater and take your temp and chart to see if you are ovulting. Check out fertility friend.com for some free charts and info. A GREAT book to get it Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I think everyone should own this book. Let me know if you have any questions. Both my kids were concieved on fertility meds.

I was on birth control for a year and a half and it took me nearly 2 years after I stopped to conceive. It may just take time for it to get out of your system.

Hope this helps,
L.

Hi B.,

It took about a year for me to get pregnant after going off BC. Also, not to be funny, but a friend of my mom's told me to relax, have a glass of wine, and have sex by the Christmas tree. I found out that I was pregnant mid Feb.

Good luck!

I was not on birth control and it took my husband and I ten months of trying before I was able to get pregnant with my second child. I told myself in mid-September of that year that if I wasn't pregnant by Christmas, I was going to see a specialist. I became pregnant the next month; although, my declaration to myself had nothing to do with it.

There is a wonderful book out there that can help you understand every aspect of your cycle and help you figure out when you are most likely to become pregnant. The title is Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health. It is written by Toni Weschler. I thought it was a wonderful investment but you can probaby find it in your local library.

My teachers and mom had always told me that "you can get pregnant from having sex just once." What they never told me was how unlikely that is if the timing is not right.

I hope the book helps. In the meantime, try to relax and enjoy the process of trying to get pregnant. Good luck.

Hi B.! Just like the previous posters said, I would consider how long you have been off the pill. If it has been long enough the first step is to keep track of when you are ovulating. I also have a 3 year old son, and I'm 3 months pregnant! I think it is a great age for him to become a big brother :)
Good luck to you, keep us posted!

when i wanted to have my second, i bought a kit that lets you know when you're ovulating. it may cost about 20 bucks or so, but i thought it was well worth it. i was able to use it like a pregnancy test and it was so easy to do. good luck. it will happen for you when it's supposed to!

The best advice I can give is Don't Stress out! I was on BC and wanted a baby.....it didn't happen right away. I finally just decided I won't worry about it, when it happens it will. The next period cycle I was pregnant with my first.
