I am looking for a good multi-vitamin for myself, adult mom. Currently don't take anything but feel I should start. Any suggestions of a good brand and any other info would help! Thanks.

What can I do next?

Another couple brands that are more pricey, but very good and money back guaranteed....Daily by Nutrilite and Activit by Beachbody. I take them both and can tell when I don't :)

Message me if you need more info.

Melaleuca's vitamins are great because they have a high absorption and the antioxidants don't get destroyed in the process. Go to their website and click on "learn more" for more information. Become a member to receive their awesome products for a discount. PM me for more info if you're interested in this route. Second best thing would be to go to Vitaminshoppe.com. Good luck!

I recommend talking to your doctor or a nutritionist/dietitian and finding out if you even need a vitamin or supplement. A lot of people take vitamins needlessly and are not even deficient in anything to begin with. Furthermore, if you are taking any medications there might be contraindications with some vitamins and supplements that you are not aware of.

Ask your pharmacist, your doctor and check FDA.gov

Most supplements haven't gone through the FDA approval process which means they've not been tested, and the quality of ingredients can vary widely despite being sold in a good store or having a reputable recommendation or name.

One of our local pharmacies offers prenatal vitamins (Rx) for free, so I use those. I have no copay, FDA approved ingredients, and clinical studies to show they're safe and effective.

Good luck! Anything is better than nothing.

Well, now you've asked for it! You should get a flurry of responses! ;)

The supplements I recommend are from Shaklee. There IS a Shaklee difference! I am a cancer survivor and these are the only ones that have the proof, the science, the safety, and the results I needed.

First watch The Shaklee Difference video.

http://K..myshaklee.com/us/en/#/pop_videos.s.html

Then look at ViteLea with iron and also Vitalizer under Healthy Nutrition.

Send me a message if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help you order. They are sent to your front door and there are ways to earn discounts, too.

Good for you for taking care of yourself!!! :)

I like the Target branded vitamins (my doctor said they were just as good as the name brand). I take a multi-vitamin (actually pre-natal) and also calcium + D. You should take 2 calcium pills a day at separate times of the day so that it absorbs and also your multi-vitamin at another time of day so that they don't counteract the calcium supplement you are taking. (Basically I take something with every meal.)

I also read somewhere that the Costco vitamins are very high quality, especially the fish oil pills.

Hope that helps!

Renae,

I am a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I truly believe we have the best vitamins on the market. I have seen too many miracles not to believe in them. Vitalizer, the vitamin strip, in particular. Let me know if you would like a link to take a look at them.

Hi Renae
If you want something over the counter- place like Sams and Costco have great packs to take.
If you want something of the phamaceutical grade- within 2% of what it claims to be and more easily absorbed- feel free to contact me about Herbalife vitamins. They have been around for over 2 decades.
You also want to incorporate an omega 3, Ca/Mg and as I see you live in MN, a vitamin D supplement as you can only absorb that via the sunshine between the months of April and October in the region so generally we northerners are borderline or deficient.

I haven't read your responses so maybe someone has already suggested this but I take Flintstones Complete!! I am a horrible pill taker so being able to chew my vitamin, that actually tastes good, is awesome. My OB said they are prefect for adults (just make sure it's the Flintstones Complete variety). In fact, while I was pregnant with twins and then a singleton, they were the vitamins I took, I just added a small folic acid pill each day. In fact, my OB said she takes the same thing and did so while she was pregnant too.

I had a great doctor who included nutrition in his evaluations. He spent a great deal of time researching different vitamins and producers, even touring some of their plants. He recommended TwinLab products. Their Daily One (your can get this with or without iron) is a well-balanced multiple vitamin/mineral capsule.

I take GNC Women's Ultra Mega Multi Vitamin and have noticed a huge difference. I used to get every little sniffle that came along at work or from day care and now if I do catch it I only have a mild case and it's gone in a fraction of the time as before. They can be kind of expensive but I signed up to receive their online offers and watch for 20% off times or even 50% off times. Good luck in your search
