R.,
I wouldn't take any vitamin that didn't have published, peer-reviewed research on the actual product. Most companies say "research has shown the ingredients of this product..." A red flag should go up! No one would take a drug that hadn't been tested.
Synthetic vitamins like Centrum are not good! (Actually nothing at the stores is.) A major study showed that people who took nothing were more healthy than people who took Centrum.

Hi R.---Isolated vitamins really don't do much good for the body, unless you are deficient, and then should only be taken as long as needed to reestablish proper levels in the body. This should only be done after testing and under the care of a professional who knows nutrition. If we take isolated vitamins on a regular basis, they actually can cause free radical damage in the body, the very thing we think popping these pills will eliminate. The only thing that works safely and effectively is FOOD. Having said that, I am of the opinion, as are many knowledgable health care professionals, that we do need help. There is a whole food based supplement, made of fruit and veggie juice powders, backed by 18 independent third party studies. This research shows that this particular food supplement is treated as food in the body. Positive changes are seen in the immune system, as well as the cardiovascular system and repair and protection of DNA are also documented.

If you would like information about what my family uses for nutrition insurance, I'd be honored to help you. I have articles about isolated vitamins that may also help you in your decision making. Whatever you do, with whatever product you look at, CONTACT THE COMPANY THAT MAKES IT AND ASK FOR THEIR PEER-REVIEWED THIRD PARTY RESEARCH DONE ON THAT PRODUCT IN THE HUMAN BODY. After all, we want it to help, not harm us, right? Good luck! D.

I don't know anything about 'super Mom' vitamins- I will google them as soon as I get the chance. What I DO know, is that your Centrum, one a day, are NOT good vitamins. I'm not sure they are harmful, but more worthless (so I would definitely fire Kansas Mom's doctor-clearly he looks at her as a regular 'customer'!) You shouldn't bother wasting your money on them. With the small amount of DRV and then studies show that they are barely being absorbed into your system. Personally, my vitamins have a 85% absorption rate- which is HUGE compared to most out there. What does that mean for you? It means that you can FEEL the difference. I think that is probrobly what we are all looking for! Info on studies done can be found at: www.oligofructosecompound.com
Hope this helps! and Heres to living and energized life!
HUGS
Edit: I googled Supermom vitamins and my first thought was how expensive they are- ingredients: claim to exceed the DRV- but no claims as to absorb-ability, Spirlina- an awesome superfood, and I take a protein drink that utilizes this! If the vitamin has a money back guarantee, then why not try them. Mine offer a 90 day money back/empty bottle.

Cheaper vitamins are cheaper for a reason. You should look for brands that are backed by science. The delivery method is important in absorption rates of the vitamin as well. Some may have the same contents but have cheaper capsules, tablets, or gels that take a toll on the amount your body absorbs. I'd look to brands like Physiologics, Pure Encapsulations, Douglas Labs, Innate Response, Sound Formulas, etc. You get what you pay for in life and vitamins and I would personally steer clear of cheap drugstore brands that are full of fillers. Many of those may also contain ingredients that are undesirable and do not meet strict standards of higher end brand lines. I have been purchasing at www.momemineral.com as my primary source for the top brands in the marketplace. It's a mother owned business and the brands they carry are first class. I have been feeling well balanced with my current diet and additional supplementation. I'm working towards 'super mom' status but am not there yet!

I don't have any personal knowledge about this particular vitamin but I can tell you you can get every bit as much benefit from taking a good multivitamin that you purchase in your local grocery store. I take the generic equivalent of Centrum Vitamin, it costs me about $10 for 6 months worth of vitamins and my doctor assures me that I am getting everything that I need from them. All of these different vitamin combinations out there are simply a way for vitamin manufacturers to entice you into spending more money and spending it on THEIR product. For instance, you can buy vitamins for men, women, teens, seniors, to lower cholesterol, protect your heart, etc etc etc. BUT if you look at the ingredients of these various products you will discover that each of them is almost identical to the other.
Now there ARE things that you may need more of because of a specific time in your life.... Pregnant and Lactating Moms need more folic acid, seniors need more iron but you can supplement that a LOT cheaper by simply buying that additional need as a seperate pill.
Don't be sucked into these ideas of vitamins to help you be a "super Mom" or to lose weight, lower your cholestrol etc. Just buy a good generic multivitamin and then eat a well balanced diet to help round out your bodies nutritional needs.

I have never heard of those but I take a great one...Oligo for Women.

Whatever vitamins you take, be aware that you don't necessarily absorp what the bottle says it contains. That is why I take the ones I do because they are made to maximum absorptionl
