I have been searching for a decent priced twin bed for my 3 year old daughter. We don't really want to spend more than $250 for the whole thing (mattress & box spring). I want to also make sure that the bed is comfortable for her. I've been looking all over and have found a few places. But I figured I would try all of you out as well to see if you have suggestions. Maybe one of you have purchased a bed around this price and found that it was a perfect choice.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. It helped to decide where we wanted to start looking first. I went over to IKEA this afternoon and found a wonderful bed and mattress set for only $180. It was a lot cheaper than we were expecting. I love the look of the whole bed, and it really seems sturdy and well put together. It took both my husband and myself to move the bed to one spot to the next. So that tells you how heavy it was. Great deal! We are very pleased with the results. :)
We bought a mattress from Costco that has been great. We also bought (a few years ago) a mattress + box spring set from a discount mattress place that was total garbage. Stay away from those places! The boxspring snapped like kindling when my husband laid down on it with my son one day, and the mattress was never really comfortable. We threw it away after just a couple of years.
We actually have a brand new box spring you might be interested in. We had bought a twin set for my daughter and it turns out that her bed really only needed a mattress (there were other supports). We'd be willing to sell it at a reasonable price, that way you only have to buy the mattress. Contact me if you are interested :)

I too about fell over in shock at some of the prices of twin mattress & box sets at the "bed" stores when we were looking for my son's big boy bed.
Best price I found was at Costco and it's really a comfortable mattress set!

I have purchased two twin mattresses & box springs from Sam's Club. I didn't want to spend an arm & a leg either. They are Serta mattresses and I know we didn't spend more than $200 for both.

Friends of ours purchased a bed for their son from craigslist. When we get a bedroom set for our daughter, it will probably be from IKEA. I have several other pieces from there and they have held up very well!
2 suggestions - Roomz for Kidz and teenz in Rolling Meadows or Costco.
We've bought two sets from Sams, they're Sertas and they've worked great and it was about 200 a set. We're going to get them for the twins when they're old enough too.
we bought DD twin bed from Ikea. No problems, it is a nice white wodd that will last her, hopefully, forever. It matches the dresser and night table we also bought there. It only needs a mattress, no box spring. The mattress is supported by wood slats. The bed was $175.
IKEA has some great beds for kids!! Super cute and reasonably priced.
