I am 27 years old and have a 3.5 year old daughter. After I had my daughter I had the Marina IUD put in. I had it removed in April of last year and right when it was removed I got my Period for 2 weeks. Then I got it again in July for a week. I have not got my period since. This is making it very difficult to find my ovulation cycle. I do not have health ins at the moment and I can not afford what doctor's want to charge me for a visit. They want like $300-$400 per visit. Has anyone else experienced this problem or any advise would be great.

What can I do next?

I was like you... After I had my daughter I used to get my period every 3 months, sometimes for 1 day sometimes for 13 days. I tried for 5 years to get pregnant and even went on medication. The doctor gave me 2 meds, they made me get my period and ovulate. I still couldn't get pregnant. And then out of the blue I got pregnant. Now I got a beautiful baby girl! Don't give up try everything you can and you'll get rewarded!! Good luck!

It took me 5 years to conceive the baby I am carrying now due to scarring from ovarian cysts. I dont really know much about IUD's but I just want to say never give up hope. I almost did but I got my miracle.

This may sound strange but do an online search for herbs for infertility or if you got the natural living center if you told them what your problem was they would find it for you, and I bet that would help. It may sound strange but herbal meds work great. Like when i was pregnant with my son I got a sinus infection I did a search for something that work and i found it and it was safe for me to take when i was pregnant and it went away right off.

I would buy the book Taking Charge of Your Fertilty. If I had it when we were trying for our first son we would have gotten pregnant sooner. I didn't get the book until about 6 months of trying for our 2nd...about 3 months after getting the book we were pregnant. For our 3rd it only took 1 month of trying. It really is a great book. Good luck!!

buy Taking Charge of your Fertility. it will teach you how to read your body's fertility signals, because what you think is not having your period is actually your body having a very long cycle. it's a great book.

Before I had my son I had unregular periods when I wasn't on the pill. I would go 3 sometimes 6 mo. inbetw. periods and I finally went to the doctor and My doctor had prescribed Provera which will bring this on. They told me if I didn't get it every month to make sure I wasn't preg. and then to take the next dose. I only got past two doses and bam I was pregnant. I think there are places called Family Planning that don't charge for a visit or if they do they are really cheap. I went there a long time ago. Pretty sure it was in Taunton. Good Luck!!!

Dear M.,
I have that same IUD in right now. I have a history of blood clots that is the only reason why I have it. I was told that if I wanted to get pregant all I had to do was simply remove it. Thank you for putting this post up! I have a son that will be two in a few weeks and I plan on having a second in a year or so. I wasn't informed of any of these complications. Maybe you could go to some kind of clinic that may be a bit cheaper, that is ridiculous to charge that much money to somebody because they don't have insurance! Good Luck and please keep me posted, I'm curious to see what happens, I may have to have mine removed sooner rather than later.

If you haven't had your period in almost 7 months, that is not a "very long cycle". Not having a period means you are not ovulating and you can't get pregnant without ovulating. I would follow the advice of one of the other women who wrote in and find a free clinic or planned parenthood office that will give you an exam and find out why you are not ovulating.

Also, why are you "deperately trying" to get pregnant while you have no insurance? Prenatal visits are really expensive without insurance, too! Definitely find out why you aren't having periods, but maybe after the mystery is solved, wait until you have insurance to actively try and get pregnant. Good luck!
