Trans Siberian Orchestra Concerts

I have the chance to get free tickets for me and our 4.5 year old son to see TSO next month. I read the reviews online and I'm SHOCKED they still tour because the reviews are horrible. I'm aware ear plugs will be needed if we go.

I'm not up for a long show that needs an intermission. The one during Yo Gabba Gabba was bad enough. I had no idea there was some long drawn out storytelling in the show's first half.

Has anybody gone recently? What should I expect?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I took a pass on the tickets. I would have had to pull him out of school and I don't think it's worth the trouble. Thanks for the input!

TSO as in Trans-Siberian Orchestra?? Bad reviews? Seriously? I joined their website so I could get premium tickets. I went two years ago for the first time and look forward to it every year. So does my 23-year-old daughter, her boyfriend and my 14-year-old. We LOVE their shows. The music is amazing and so is the light show.

My husband and I have gone a couple of times and we LOVE it!! I will say though, it would not be fun for a 4.5 year old. He will become bored very quickly and you most likely will end up missing at least half the show.

My SIL went with her inlaws and hated it. But that's all I know. Sorry.

I personally love them and have been to two or three of their concerts. Whether or not your young child would appreciate it depends on your kid. If your kid can't sit still for a very long time, then maybe take a friend instead of the child. The year we got floor seats, my SD was entranced because there was snow falling on us and she loved the lasers, but she was also about 14. They always sell out when the come to Baltimore.

I think their CDs give a good representation of the music. For most rock concerts, we do bring earplugs but it doesn't mean you don't get to enjoy the show. They ROCK and they are LOUD. I bet Metallica and similar are, too. If that's not your speed of Christmas music, skip it.

Now I want to go look up their tour schedule. We had a big family vacation so I don't think we can swing tickets (and a sitter...my DD is 3 and wouldn't last) but I'm a bit jealous that you got free tickets.

I went last year. Ummmm, good luck with your kid, the adults I went with couldnt even get through it!
I LOVE music! I think Christmas Eve Sarjevo is amazing, but turns out that was the only thing I liked.
I really thought it was going to be more Orchestra, and less weird 80's hair band....FAIL!

Now, for free, I would consider it, Hey, maybe your son will like it, the lights are kinda cool, but it just wasnt want I wanted.

i guess it's either a love-it or hate-it kinda thing.

my mom thought it would be a good idea to take our WHOLE family (including two 4 year olds) last year.

BAD. HORRIBLE. AWFUL idea. the kids were....BORED. they were cool the first 30 minutes or so, but after awhile they just got over it. i had bought the cd and my son LOVES "wizards in winter" (which, of course, was the grand finale, so we didn't even get to see it) but to him the rest was just boring. it's not for kids. it's very over-dramatic, drama, big BIG show type stuff...you either like that kind of over-the-top stuff or you don't. i might have gotten into it if not for the kids driving us crazy. we all left except my mom, her bf, and my single (no kids) sister, before it was over. but the ones that stayed LOVED it.

My husband bought tickets a couple years ago. It was the worst concert of my life lol. I hated it. However he got tickets again the next year as he loved it and took our boys (all teenagers) they all loved it so I was outvoted. It is a giant rock concert / light show it is christmas music and a christmas storythe light show was great but I was afraid of going into some sort of seizure from the lights. i don't think i would take a 4 year old to this.
