Too Many Pics on Fb?

so i have a cousin-in-law who is a little different than what i am used to. but she is a really good person, and i have started getting more used to her, even really started caring about her and loving her as family, you know how it can take some time, sometimes, to get used to new inlaws. we disagree about many things and are different but that's okay.

soooo we have been going to church with the family, and are even in the same sunday school class, and i have really been feeling great towards her.

then on new years she revealed that her resolution was to take pics of her kids (they have two boys) every day of 2013. i thought nothing of it. much to my surprise, she intended (apparently) to not only TAKE pics of her kids every day of 2013, but post them on fb. every. day.

*sigh*. i just un-subscribed to her. i feel like a heel, but to me, that's just TOO MUCH. literally every night the last three days, i have come home, turned on fb, and there are her kids. now, i have nothing against her boys. love them to pieces. they are great. i just don't need to see pics of them EVERY time i get on fb. it just really seems excessive.

am i a shoddy excuse for a cousin?? lol! just wondering maybe this is not so unsual as i think. what do you all think? maybe i suck....lol.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

just real quick wanted to point out - i do love this girl, and i didn't "unfriend" her - i "unsubscribed" to her - just means i don't see her posts on my page when i pull it up anymore - i would have to go to her page to see them. just wanted to clarify that.

yep, some of you nailed it too - i only have about 100 friends. i do NOT add every tom, dick, and harry who i have met once in an elevator lol. i have people i know and love personally, on there...so yes, i don't have thousands of updates to bury hers. that's probably a big part of it. like i said, it was the first thing i saw (in my face, on my home page) every day when i pulled it up, regardless. i didn't have a choice to look, as some of you said, "just don't look." but now that i have unsubscribed, problem solved. i took care of it, just wondered if others would feel the same. thanks everyone!

Another thing to consider--some of us (I, for one) post pics of my kids on FB directly from my cellphone, because that's where I end up storing pics so I can free up space in my phone's memory. So, I probably post pics several times a week, but it's really for my benefit, not for my friends/family, though they are welcome to enjoy or ignore them as they please ;-)

Well, since I don't have to look...this wouldn't bother me at all. What's the big deal? I don't get it...

I don't care what pictures people post, I don't generally look at them.

I'd rather see someones kids than some of the other things that people post on fb.
I don't think it's that bad, really I've got a guy I know that posts pictures of girls in thongs everyday. If I didn't actually like him and think he is a nice guy, a bit of a horn ball but he is a guy, I'd unfriend him. But someone's kids aren't unfriend worthy.

That's what preferences are all about. You are not a shoddy excuse of a cousin, you just prefer to "opt out" of kidpic overload. Consider yourself human. Love not havin FB!

My friends who use Instagram and post the pics on FB, post pics of their dogs every day. I haven't unsubscribed them, but I don't see a problem with you unsubscribing.

It does seem odd to me that this bothers you. You probably see her enough as it is, or don't have enough posts on your news feed for stuff to get buried!

Hundreds of pics or just 2-3? The latter doesnt sound unreasonable.

Lol, I was talking to my 20s son and he was telling me about people who do this and unfriending them. Too much!

You did the right thing - unsubscribe. I have a friend who I adore, in person. On FB I had to hide her b/c I couldn't take the happiness spewing from her on a daily basis (especially when I know it's fake). I have another friend who always asks me "I want to post these pictures, do you think that's obnoxious?" I always tell her that her FB friends will either look or the won't. Who cares?

A Pic a day? I think it's a bit much... I also think that unsubscribing is okay. I love my family, but I don't want to see a picture of the same person each.stinkin.day. I have enough email to sort through as it is!

(one more reason to be glad I'm not FBing!)

All you have to do is hover her name and go click off "show in news feed". then you have a choice to go to her timeline to see her kids. You can stop anything from coming to your daily newsfeed, you DO have that power. I'm sure she just wants to be able to see a year of her kids at the end of chapter 2013 of this book. In 365 pages she will see just that.

I have cousins who over post too. When I see that they posted, I skip on by because its never ending blatherings about how their day is going. They are sick and going home early, they are board at work, they have some alone time at home, they made guacamole or some fancy chocolate dessert ...... I don't get people who use face book in this manner. I truly don't think they get how lame they are. But they are family, I keep them on my fb, and I don't bother to read their boring antidotal comments about their mundane lives.

Update: unsubscribe hu? thats a novel idea. Maybe i don't need to see my lame cousins lame fb posts after all.

Why not hover your mouse over her name then click on settings. Once the box comes up click most updates on the top. Then on the next section uncheck everything except status updates.

Then if that doesn't work you can click on the other option on the top, only important. That way you get to see some posts but not very many.

No, You can always go to her page an look at the pictures. If she says anything and you don't want to fess up, FB has wierd sorting sometimes so you don't necessarily see what was the latest.
