D.T.
My daughter (5yo) wanted to tell the baby (nearly 20w) about her day. She sat next to me for a solid 20 mins with my shirt pulled up talking to my stomach.
I am sitting in the family room while my almost 16 yo son is around the corner in the kitchen on his laptop.
He is plugged into his MP3 and just singing away to the music.
Oh my gosh, I just have the goofiest grin on my face.
What was your goofy grin moment today?

with my daycare kids...we painted clay pots for their moms. Used their fingerprints to make flowers, bees, & ladybugs. Then they filled the pots w/ petunias. Cuter than cute. The pride they showed made me smile.
I also was ecstatic when I was able to get the 9month old to smear her hand into the paint & create a marbled effect on her clay pot! Awesome! We were both grinning ear-to-ear!
AND tonight is my son's Band Concert. I told my Sis that since my son just had oral surgery last week, he's excused from playing tonight. I said it was a bummer to know that we'd be sitting there just watching him "hold his instrument".....& she cracked up laughing. Recommended that I find another way to phrase it! :) Thank goodness, I said it just to her!
Hi L.-
One of my kiddos, shannon, was 'tube' fed for years...I mean YEARS!!
I was not willing to send her to a feeding program once she came home from the hospital (she is a cardiac kid...and pretty fragile)...SO...I spent years (and a FAT dog) giving her a plate of food...same as other kiddos...that she only 'played' with. We worked on the 'social' aspects of food (and 'tanked up' her real feedings at night via pump to tummy tube).
At some point...only a couple of years ago...the 'eating by mouth' light bulb went on...it was 'pie' (apple to be exact...Turkey Day 4 years ago). She actually ATE some!
Then...for a few months...we labeled 'everything' "PIE"!! We had 'pizza pie'...we had quiche 'pie'...we had lasagna 'pie'!! lol
As long as we called it 'pie'...she ate it!
NOW...she is MY best 'eater'!! There is not a meal that she is eating now...that she is not asking 'what' the next one will be!! lol
I am convinced (and always smile) that this ONE kiddo who never ate by mouth for S O long...is now so invested in the 'next' meal...
She helps 'prepare' food to the extent she is able...BUT ...she makes me smile EVERY time she asks about the 'next' meal!
Best Luck!

My granddaughter's birthday was tuesday. We brought her new puppy to share day at pre-school. I wish I could keep that smile on me forever!
my 2 year old constantly asks me if he can kiss sissy (his sister is 3mnths) then today he told me he loved her, awww.
Yesterday my 2 yr old refused to have quiet time. When I told her mommy needed quiet time she looked up at me qnd very matter of factly said "go to the quiet time store?" I said I wish there was one!
a friend and i took our boys to the grand opening of a lego store today. the three boys were in the back seat singing to the christian songs that were on the radio...and as they were singing they must have been looking at each other because they broke out in laughter. made me smile just to hear them all together having fun!!
My daughter fills in my husband on every thing we do during the day. Today she watched Phantom of the Opera. She loved the singing and the pretty dresses.
So today she tried to tell her daddy about the singing and the pretty dresses, "Daddy today we watch pretty singing dresses." So funny.
My 12 mo old has mastered showing me where his toes are when I ask, so we've moved on to learning where his belly button is. When I asked him today "Where's your belly button?" he grinned and poked just a bit south of where his belly button is. Cracked me up! I think we'll save learning that particular piece of anatomy for another day.
To see my 3yr old try to express himself like an adult and can hardly pronounce the words :-)
My 5 year old, whom is VERY tall for his age, was sitting in my lap the other day so I could cut his fingernails. I told him he was getting so tall! He said, "mommy, I tried to find a wishing well so I could stay your little baby forever but, I can't find one!". Brought a sweet smile to my face (and a tear to my eye). Little does he know that even when he is a foot taller than mommy, he will still be my baby boy!!
