i have a 7 month old daughter who is getting her top teeth in. is there any other symptoms that accompany teething besides drooling and fever?? she seems constipated to me and congested. i was just wondering if these go with the teething or if it's something else. any advice would be appreciated!!

What can I do next?

I have 5 kids and everytime my teething stages were here I always had more to deal with than just new teeth. Fever, runny nose, congestion, very fussy at night time. I almost all the time waist $30.00 mistaking it for a ear infection. I give my 11 month old and all my kids a baby toothbrush straight out the freezer,it works wonders!!!! even a wash rag worked.

N., my pediatrician says that just about anything goes when it comes to teething. I have called her at various points throughout my 2 & 3 year olds teething episodes to ask if this or that can accompany teething and the answer was always yes. The only time she said we should come in is if the fever gets too high (over 100) or if other symptoms become extremely bothersome (possible ear infections, yellow/green nasal discharge etc. . .).

Interestingly both of my sons really felt better after chewing on an electric toothbrush that was turned on. They come in kids sizes and I kept a close eye on them when they were chewing on it, but it seemed to do the trick. One would even fall asleep with it. They both responded well to Hyland's teething tablets and Hyland's teething gel also.

Hello, you have teething problems too? LOL! I have an 11 month old, who got his first bottom teeth at 4 months! Yes, it seemed he did have other symptoms then drooling and fever. He was very constipated for a while, which resulted in inguinal hernias on both side of his gentials. He did have lots of running/stuffy noses, and ear aches. Doc did say teething could be a possibility. If she is constipated, I was given, (after his surgery) suppositories, and or give her dark karo syrup or prun juice. If congested, treat them symptoms with cold medicine.
On another note: If you decide to use suppositories, this may help you start her on potty training... Usually, the suppositories work pretty quick. Give her a suppository, (up her rear, its like an enema)then go set her on the potty and wait... my son is 11 months we started this 2 months ago, and now if we hear him grunting like he is going, we go put him on the toilet. no morev suppositories unless he needs help. We made sure he went every other day to keep him comfortable. It is safe and easy, and a whole lot easier to clean up.
Good luck!

Teething can also cause runny nose and runny diaper. My kids had those plus fever and a ton of drool.

My son was teething and had a runny nose from it that turned into ear infections in both ears (which he has never had) then sinus infection and eventually phemonia. This actually happened last week. Teething can be brutal for some kids.

The way I have always been able to tell the difference between teeth and just being sick is that my kids usually have their hand or fingers in their mouth when it's teeth. They both have chewed their hand red.

Motrin/Tylenol, Orajel and Teething tablets are your best bet. Also, if your daughter is on a pacifier throw it in the freezer for a couple of minutes and let it get really cold and it will feel like heaven in her mouth if it's teeth!

Good Luck

Oh yeah... all can be symptoms to teething... When they teeth they have runny noses. That can lead to it running down their throats and causing them to cough and congest.. But if you have any problems with the pain of the teething.. I suggest you invest in Teething tablets.. They are a life saver. My daughter uses them and the pain goes aways quick..

Good luck

Yes, runny nose and congestion can come from teething. My daughter tends to have looser stools from teething, but it can probably go either way.

We like Hyland's Teething Tablets a lot. If they don't work for you the first time, try again next tooth. Some teething pains respond magically to them, others not at all. If nothing else, they're sweet and a good distraction from crying.

Usually loose stools accompany teething due to the excess production and swollowing of the saliva. Runny nose, slobbering, and fever are usually common with teething. I fyou child seems constipated try giving them some grapes or apple juice. YOu can also do tummy massages bu drawing I love u on the tummy instead of spelling love draw a heart the motion and direction of the letters and shapes goes in the same direction as teh intestinal tract and helps to get the bowels and digestion moving. If gassy and uncomfortable it might also help to get some mylecon drops there are name brand and generic and they both work equally well and are non staining. Good luck!
