Took the boys to the museum yesterday while wearing a pair of suede loafers by aerosole. They were comfortable but not at all supportive. Any thoughts or suggestions for a good shoe/brand of shoes that can both be supportive and comfortable, and look the part of a casual dress shoe/ office casual shoe?

My aching feet and I thank you

Vionic shoes are awesome! I discovered them after dealing with plantar fasciitis a few years ago. Really good arch support. Most of my shoes are Vionics now.

Just FYI, in my experience not all Aerosoles are the same. I have some that are so easy to wear and some that I end up getting rid of because they hurt as much as a "regular old shoe"!

I'm on my feet frequently for work so I appreciate comfortable shoes. One thing I like to do is go to a general shoe store like DSW and just look around and try on various shoes. Rather than going brand-by-brand. I've had lots of luck finding comfortable attractive shoes at DSW.

One specific shoe that I enjoy in warm weather are Crocs flats. Not the "traditional" Crocs, but they make cute flat shoes that are just as comfortable.

Also, I like Bandolinos. They used to be around in stores more, the brand was connected to Nine West, now I find them online.

Having a good shoe is important. Having a good insole is better :) Look at a local shoe store for an insert/insole for the shoes that you already love and you get the best of both worlds. I had a pair of sketcher "sandals" (they kind of looked like a Mary Jane) that I LOVED and took all over the world with me. When I started part time at the post office they were to the point that my back and feet were so tired after wearing them. The guy at my local shoe store had me purchase inserts/insoles and he pulled my old ones right out of the shoe and stuck the new ones in. Fantastic! I not only got 3 more years out of those shoes (until the sole finally cracked), but my feet and back felt great. Now I have a pair of Tieks and have no insert/insole for those, but I have walked 10 miles in them without any pain or tiredness, but Tieks are expensive and it is a love or hate situation.

Good luck!

I swear by Birkenstock s and I love their clogs.
I have many of their sandals as well but they have a professional clog that's suitable for kitchen/nursing (non slip soles) and these have saved me when I've had to be on my feet for hours at a time.

I have a miserable back and find walking especially at a museum (tile floor)😱 Awful. I have bought a pair of black GoPro shoe/sneaker. OMG I love them so do my feetand back. There are several styles. Check Zappos or Sketchers site. You can't go wrong with these. Thry tunsbout $60.

There are always Naots but they are very expensive but last forever and ever.

Find a SAS store. Their shoes aren't cheap, but they are very supportive.

My personal favorite are Naot's. They ARE expensive, but they have saved my feet.

Dansko! They're made for people who are on their feet all day. Just make sure you're measured and buy the proper size. They're not a shoe you can buy online.

The orthopedic also recommended Birkenstocks but they're not my style.

I second Vionic. I have a pair of flip flops that I LOVE. I switch between the Vionic and Danskos.

I really like Clarks and Uggs. I have Clark boots and some nice ballerina type flats that not only look good but are very supportive. I don't have Ugg boots (I just don't like them) but I have a pair of Ugg sandals that I can walk in all day and some really nice slippers that I live in during the winter.
