M.6.
I have a pair of Tieks and I love them. I only own a few pairs of shoes so I don't feel that $200 is "out of the norm" - I'd rather have 3 pairs of really good shoes, than 20 pairs of cheap shoes (that hurt my feet). I have a black pair that I can use for dressy flats or casual, especially since wearing heels is difficult for me due to a foot injury.
I got my first pair for Valentine's Day several years ago and I wear mine daily (not only do I love them, but with minimal care, they will last forever). I am asking for another pair in a different color for Mother's day this year.
As far as the amount of money they cost - to each his own. Folks will spend $5+ daily on a cup of coffee, or $50 on a steak dinner, or $100 on a massage - all things that feel or taste great, but are not tangible items. My husband loves the fact that I wear that gift nearly every day and love it. Money well spent on a well loved item in my opinion.
