I am veering off topic a little. Since you are interested in health, search on "green smoothies". They are a way to eat lots of raw green leafy vegetables and LIKE them.
Hi mamas! I have added a few supplements to my diet and am trying to figure out if it is ok to take them all together or if I should space them out etc. I asked my dr. but he is anti-herbal anything and says he can't advise me on how or when to take them because they are not fda approved. blah. SO... does anyone have experience with taking these items or know if I should take them all at once or split it up? They are mostly efas...I am not on any other medications and the items on this list are the only things I take. Thanks!!
1. Co-Q10
2. Black Currant Oil
3. Vitamin D
4. Irwin Naturals Hair, Skin, Nails (ingredients are Vitamin c, biotin, zinc, copper, magnese, fish oil, gotu kola, lysine, proline, silica, black pepper, ginger and citrus flavonoids).
In addition I drink "cell food" in my water once per day.
Any advice from personal experience or knowledge of these types of supplements would be greatly appreciated!! :)

If your doctor won't advise you, then I would contact your pharmacist. Since these are unregulated supplements that aren't being monitored under a doctor's guidance, you really want to make sure you're not doing any damage taking them, especially together.
You honestly really do not need supplements when the best supplement out there is clean, healthy food!
Your doctor is right; supplements are not regulated by the FDA. They could contain anything. I could make a special diet pill that is nothing but a capsule of grass clippings, give it to a study group of like 10 people for 6 weeks and if they lose weight I can claim that "study participants lost weight while taking this supplement".
The only supplement I take is a daily multi-vitamin. If you really insist on taking supplements, consult with a pharmacist or a registered dietitian.
all of these are fine to take together, the vitamin d will actually help absorb the skin care vitamin, and thats great about the cell food. that stuff is amazing
I'm not familiar with black currant oil or cell food, but if all are natural I don't really see a problem outright. Read labels and choose companies that test their products for purity. Most doctors just don't know and so they are wary.
How much vitamin D? D3 is what you want the most of and you don't want to take too much. It can get toxic. You could ask your doc for a blood test if you think you are deficient. However, if you don't think that then between 1200 IU and 2000 IU should be okay from my experience....unless you are a sun worshipper. Do you take calcium with D? How much are you getting there? Do you get much sun?
If you like I can send you a link to a quiz to try to figure out how much D you need. D is important for immunity and heart and possibly even in proper weight loss.
I am not familiar with these individual supplements or their interactions with each other. I do know that some otherwise safe supplements become very unsafe when taken together.
Can I recommend one, really good, SAFE multi-vitamin? If so, it is Oligo. They are incredible. You can also get their calcium and some others that are all safe together. If you want more info, let me know.
Hi Robyn, we are an all Natural family and my Internal Medicine doctor told me to stay on my flaxseed and my fish oil and told me to up my fish oil to 3 times a day. I can't see how mixing naturals together can be harmful. I do, and have for almost 2 yesrs now and feel great after almost dying. I take the fish oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin D and Eleotin, I was sent home from the hospital with medications threw them all away and only use natural supplements. Every one is different and different things affect different people in different ways but I'm 53 and have never felt better.
Go to an herbologist or an herbal supplement store and talk to the owner about them. Not all store owners have a clue but some are trained in herbology.
Dear Robyn:
Everything there is water soluble except the first 2 items and those are fine. Everything can be taken together.
