So... the Invitation Says to "Come and Get Pampered", BUT....

I know that's just a marketing strategy used to get ladies there to buy stuff. HOWEVER, I just ran out of moisturizer and was going to go shopping for some more anyway. I was thinking about asking you guys for your opinion on different brands... up until now. Now, I guess I'll get it through the Mary Kay line since that's the company that is doing the "pampering."

I'm in my 40's. My skin seems to be okay, but I would like to have it look fresher.... more youthful. The skin on my face is not really dry nor is it that oily either. So with that description, can you tell me if there are any Mary Kay skin products that I should buy or NOT buy? I usually tend to opt out of these "parties" because I really don't NEED the stuff they're selling. However, this time I happen to need some skin care products.

Thanks for your time, ladies!
~Joy

Yep, you received an invoice. Nothing is free.

I personally use Clinique and Love it. I've used it since I was about 11 and I am now 49 and I pass for early 30's.

I believe it is all attributed to good genes, good diet, faithful skin care rouutine daily and Clinique

I DO NOT SELL MARY KAY.
I have never regretted buying a Mary Kay skin product. Some of it is too pricey for me, but I have always been happy with it.

I used to sell Mary Kay though I never got into it and don't do it anymore. However, I do love their skin care products!!! I still use their stuff (what I have left over from the inventory I prepurchased) and would probably find someone to buy from when I run out. Don't feel the need to buy the whole timewise set if you don't need it. If you just want moisturizer, then just buy that. It'll work fine even if you don't use the 500 other products you're supposed to use before it. It's actually the best moisturizer I've ever used. The microdermabrasion is really good and I love the satin hands!! The satin lips are really good too, especially with winter coming up. Negotiate with the seller too. At full retail price, they get 50% profit, so keep that in mind when ordering!

Oh, I LOVE Mary Kay. Simply love it. It's the only line that my skin doesn't break out from when the bottles don't say "for sensitive skin" on them. The only exception to that would be for the products that have UV protection in them... I can't use those because they burn my skin.

The skin care products are wonderful. The hand care and body care products are wonderful. The make-up is wonderful and they take great care to match EVERYTHING to your skin type and coloring. Everything.

EDIT: Yes, TimeWise is fabulous. That's the best line in the MK products. They're gentle, they smell light but there's no added fragrance, and they don't do animal testing.

Even their perfumes are lovely and gentle. If you don't wish to purchase anything for yourself, consider buying some single items as gifts for Christmas or hostess gifts for Thanksgiving.

I like the MK balancing moisturizer simply because it doesn't have a strong fragrance. It's also very light and not greasy feeling. The only thing I hate about going to those parties is being hounded by the rep afterward. I ONLY buy the moisturizer and not anything else. I can't seem to make the rep understand the "don't call me, I'll call you" thing.

I love their microdermabrasion set. I have sensitive skin (also in my 40s) and it doesn't irritate it ... just helps to revive my skin a bit. Also like their Timewise moisturizing cleanser.

See what you think when you try the products at the party. The rep may also have some samples you can take home to try before committing to a purchase. I know two people who sell MK and they're both very low-key about buying/not buying, so hopefully it will be that way at your party, too.

I use a number of Mary Kay products and so far all are winners.

Go to the party and enjoy yourself. Order your lotion, and if nothing else tickles your fancy, don't feel bad about it.

I love Mary Kaye. My sister sells it and introduced me to it. And I'm older than you. It really helps my skin.

Oh I am a such a sucker for MK. I use the TimeWise line (cleanser and moisturizer plus Day Solution and Night Solution). The "solutions" can be pretty expensive but they last a long time. I go through about 1 set of "solutions" a year and maybe 3 cleansers and 1-2 moisturizers a year but I'm not one to do a full skin care regimen twice a day, every day.

I also bought a microdermabrasion kit that is awesome but that was a splurge. I've had it for a year and it's still not gone. Oh and I just gone some samples of some stuff that's supposed to even out your tone. I could go on and on...

Anyway... I would start with the TimeWise cleanser and moisturizer. They are both very good and if you like them, you can add more stuff later.

Oh and the mineral powder foundation is to die for!

I'm a Clinique fan myself. That is ALL I have used for years. Literally. My husband even went and bought their "after sun" care lotion when I got a bad sunburn one time---HIS idea. It is THE BEST stuff for a burn.

Anyway, I haven't used anything but Clinique since high school... and when I go make-up-less and don't have my teen aged kid with me, I get carded. I'm 43.

I used and loved MK products for many years. But once I turned 40 my chemistry changed and I just didn't care for how my face/skin looked or felt.

I did go to a 'pampering' party probably 4-5 years ago and found a couple of things I liked and bought. But told the rep up front that I'm not going to sell nor am I going to have a pampering party myself. I never heard from her again! I guess my occasional little orders weren't going to be good enough for her to maintain her pink Caddy! Yes she had one!

And no, I'm no longer interested in their products, I've found a line I love. So if there are any reps reading this, please don't sent me a private message to sell me products. Sorry.

I've been using Mary Kay for over 20 yrs. I love the moisturizer. But I can't afford it. So I have found it on Ebay. I can get two for the price of one.
Go to the party and sample the stuff. See what you like. I personally do not like the Timewise. I use Daily Moisturizer formula 2. But this is not something they bring to the new parties.
Try it and see if you like it. If not, there are a million otehr products to try!
Good luck and GOD BLESS!

My grandma started selling Mary Kay when I was 2, and I have grown up with it. I actually have a Timewise Cleanser bar in my bathroom that my whole family uses, including the 15 year old boy! I only buy from her about once or twice a year, because, honestly, who needs to spend that much money on makeup? Not me! lol However, when I run out of cleanser, it's time to hit grandma up, because it's some good stuff. jmo

The products are decent, but the problem is usually that you get hounded after the parties. My neighbor is selling MK and I've bought a few things here and there to be supportive and the quality is pretty good. Prices are in line with department stores, but more expensive than a CVS.

If you want a pampering night and actually need the products, then go. Just know that you will get pressured into hosting a party and probably have to listen to a shpeil on selling MK.

I went to several of these parties and I told the person upfront I would never sell. She drove me nuts only needing a few more to sign up as salespersons and she could get her free car. For $100, got the starter kit to help her out because I really liked her as a person. Of course it never stopped until I flat out got rude. I now avoid MK like the plague and after she got the car, I found out she and her mother had a closet full of unsold items. That car cost them and it was just a lease.
I hated the turquoise eye gel that you keep in the fridge. It felt so weird to me.
I likes the moisturizer's light scent, but my skin was still try(timewise).
