I need a new line of skin care products. I have been using Dermalogica, and I like it, but it is just too expensive. I have combo/oily skin and fight with zits (even at age 30) often. Any opinions ladies?
Well, I went with the Mary Kay line. I will try it out first and see how I like it! I just ordered it, so I haven't got to use it yet. Thanks for all the opinions ladies! This was a way tougher decision for me than it should have been!

I LOVE CLinique. I've used it since I was about 11. Right now I use the repairwear series and LOVE it.
My 16 yr old uses the CLinique line as well.
I do not look my age at all... I pass for early 30's and geesh... I am 49.
THe product is great but good eating, exercise and overall healthy habits as well as genes help a lot.

My sister sold Melaleuca for years and used it on her daughters acne. It was totally awesome. I suggest you look for someone that sells it and get a facial just to compare.
Otherwise, I only use Mary Kay.

I totally disagree with Laeh-Maggie. There are no perfumes in the Mary Kay Timewise cleansers and moisturizers. I'm 100% pro Mary Kay. It's the ONLY thing I can use AND they just won the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. Most of the cosmetics are mineral and alot of the products contain sunscreen SPF 15 or higher.

Both brands are excellent. I've used Clinique for years. When I started, I had your sort of skin, and the skin care products were very helpful. Now my skin is much drier, so I use different products but the same line. They're not cheap, but a little goes a long way! And if I can manage to hold out buying anything I need until the store has "bonus days" (Clinique's version of a sale), I get free products that I couldn't put in my budget otherwise. I haven't had to go to the store for mascara or lipstick for years, and not often for shadow.
You might want to ask for a demonstration, try the products on your own skin, and see if you like them.

I have been using MK fo 23 years! I love it and will not use anything else. No, I don't sell it. LOL I bought it for myself on my 21st birthday, and haven't looked back. I have very sensitive skin, and anything else I have ever tried has caused me serious problems. People tell me that I look years younger than I really am. They don't think I am old enough to have 6 children or be in my 40s. Part of that is genes though, I'm sure. When we were living in Japan, I did use Clinique when I couldn't get MK (I would stock up when I would go home to visit, but sometimes I ran out). I liked it okay, but it was a substitute and not a replacement.

Mary Kay! Used it for years and LOVE it!!! Plus, I had a friend who used Clinique for years (refused to use anything else) and I had her use mine one time and she switched to MK and now years later still uses and loves it. I also have combo/oily skin. I use the Timewise for the most part but during the hot of the summer I sometimes use the Velocity (marketed to teens so cheap!) when i get super oily and use the zit cream pretty much daily. I'm 37 so I feel your pain with the age and the zits!
Good luck!

I use Olay for skin care, a friend of mine went to a dermatologis and he told her that Olay is just as good. If I would had to pick between the 2 that you said I would go for Clinique for special stuff for zits and I like their special dark spot cream.

I like both products and used have used both in my day. I'm now using oil of olay and it's doing what I need. I'd use what best works for you and fits your budget. I also found you don't have to use all of one product as they try to sell you on that. I know they say they are formulated to work together so only use X product. Yeah well all the professionals don't use only one products either so do buy into that theory, read some of Oprah's mag's or website and see Dr's and professionals use different products to get the results they are looking for.

I'm another MK fan. I love that if I try something and don't like it, I can give it back to my rep and it doesn't cost me or her anything. Not that I've ever returned anything, because I like all the products. I also have combo/oily skin and in the past couple of years have been battling both acne and wrinkles. Fun. I definitely notice a huge difference between how my skin looks and feels when I am sticking to my regimen vs. slacking off. I use timewise cleanser and moisturizer and the acne toner and gel when needed. I use day solution and night solution when my skin is getting too dry or I'm going to wear make-up. The eye cream really works, and I recently added in a micro-derm-abrasion kit that is worth every penny!

I used clinique for many years. It was great when I was a teenager, but I found it could dry out my skin in areas. I have never used Mary Kay. I use (and sell) another brand that I find affordable and my skin is looking great! It has vitamins. Find something with vitamins in it that work for you. I prefer "natural" products. Look on the bottle to be sure no formaldehyde for example. Your day lotion should have spf 15 and a lipstick or gloss that also has spf 15.
I agree, if too expensive you tend not to use it. I like to be able to put some of that spf face cream on my ears too....... I have short hair.

I am LOVING the C. Booth brand that you can find at Rite Aid. I have used many high end and pricey products and this is better than all of them. Problems I have had for ages are dissapearing-like small milia. And I use retin a as well and this is what I have noticed the most change with.. I esp love their glycolic retexturizing peel and their volcanic ash mask. And it is not as expensive as the Clinique will be.

Hi M.,
I don't know if you have ever heard of Sense'. I have been using them for over 7 years and am 42 but look like I am in my 20s. It is free of chemical preservatives. I have placed many people on it with skin issues such as yours. If you send me your email I can email the ingredients as well a sample if you wish.

You're getting lots of input, M., but here's one more suggestion. I use Reliv's patented nutrition. If you drink the Reliv shakes, your body can use the nutrients to do all kinds of repairs to your body, and that includes your skin. I get compliments on my skin now, although I never had good skin until I found Reliv, and I'm 57. Reliv also has an incredible skin care line which you can see at http://www.relivables.com/US/EN/womenspersonalcare.html. To see prices, you'll need a customer ID, which I can easily get for you. Having a customer ID does not cost anything or require you to purchase anything. If you prefer, you can send me a message if you want to talk to me about Reliv instead of researching it online. I do have a distributorship because after using Reliv for one month in 2006, I knew I'd be using it for the rest of my life.

I actually had skin reactions to both Clinique AND Mary Kay. I ended up buying some products from Avon to help a friend out who sells it and darnit, if it didn't turn out to be the best stuff for my skin! I love it!
Never thought I'd be an Avon fan!

Mary Kay Timewise combination collection is amazing. The clear proof charcoal mask is great for oil, acne, blackheads, dirt , impurities. I love it and I am a Mary Kay consultant!! so many people say they will never leave Clinique but im here to tell you that Mary Kay has some of the same active ingredients as Clinique without the crazy high price! I love the way my skin feels and looks just after a week of use it just keeps getting better !
Hi M., I dont know what you decided but Mary Kay is an awesome product and less expensive than others out there. If you have any other questions let me know, I do sell it and LOVE it!!! :-)

Mary Kay is so full of perfume that I can never trust it not to cause my skin to break out. I avoid anything with perfumes. Why smell like every other woman out there. Same for Estee Lauder. You reek of it and it's not you.
You have an expensive cream that works. Stick to it. It's your luxury in life. Cut somewhere else.
I have flawless skin without lines which is unique for a grandmother. I have a special skin cream which I've used for more than 20 years. Take care of your skin. You'll like looking in the mirror. And, wear a hat with a brim to protect yourself from sun damage.
