I'm not big into wearing makeup - I don't like to look "done up" often, & the few & far between times I do wear makeup, the cheaper stuff @ Target will do just fine. However, I've been to a few MK parties thrown by friends, & an acquaintance of mine is a rep, so it's come up more than once.

To be honest, MK is good quality, & if there is something you like, you probably can't go wrong. But since you asked - I have fallen in love with MK foundation. It goes on very easily, doesn't feel thick or caked on, & smooths out my complexion without looking like I'm wearing anything. It's great for when I want to get done up, & it's also great when I just want a fresh-looking face for work.

Definitely give it a try - at the party I went to recently, they had us do 1/2 our face with the foundation, & then compare the sides. That's what sold me. It's a product that you can feel good about getting, & know that you'll get use out of it, & haven't spent money needlessly on something you could've gotten just as nice somewhere else for less. T. :)

Mary Kay has excellent products. If nothing else the hand lotion Satin Hands is wonderful.

I like their lipstick.
At 12 your daughter can have some lip gloss.
Other makeup can wait till 14 or 16.

I like the satin lips product too. It's great for chapped lips in the winter. It's the only MK product I own. (to be honest, I only bought it because I was in your exact position - at a party and felt that I had to get something. but I did end up liking it)

It's a good company, so I'd say to either let the consultant help you choose a color (eye shadow, blush) that goes with your skin tones, or go "neutral" with a good cleanser or moisturizer. Can't get enough of that stuff.

I'm not familiar much with Mary Kay, but I would use it as an opportunity to get something I might not otherwise buy. Something like a face mask or scrub, a nice moisturizer or cleanser, maybe tinted lip balm and such. I don't know what their line is like, but I'm sure you could find something fun!

Satin hands and satin lips are both fantastic. It's the only thing I've ever ordered from Mary Kay. Satin lips is not so much makeup, more a treatment and gloss. But works great and pampers you while still keeping your natural look. Glosses may be a good start for your daughter as well!

It's been years since I bought from them (had a friend who once sold MK), but I did like the Satin Lips product. It sloughs off the dry skin and leaves your lips really soft. They also have a great facial exfoliator that's really gentle. I have fair, sensitive skin and it never irritated my face.

I would look at their skin care for teen skin. It won't be long until your DD is having bumpy skin or a few break outs. A facial cleaner or pimple treatment wouldn't be out of the question to have on hand for her.

I loved Mary Kay for years and years and years. Never wore anything but Mary Kay from 7th grade through adulthood. But then they decided that the new stuff everyone else was doing would be better so they imitate everyone else now and their products absolutely stink. I hate them. I don't wear any other makeup either. I just wish Mary Kay would bring back their original lines with the formula 1 in the flat pallet, formula 2 in the bottle with a pump, and all my favorite items.

Since you don't wear much makeup why not just buy it for your daughter. She will be thrilled and will like everything!
