Oh to have my single mother, Mother's Day back..... those were the days. No husband who drank waaaay to many mimosas, no MIL who can barely talk she's taken so many pills. If it weren't for my kids and my own Mother, I quite possibly may have driven myself off a cliff yesterday. I will never make that mistake again. Next year I'm taking off first thing in the morning with my 3 babies and visiting my mom and enjoying the day with them ONLY. The only ones who matter on Mother's Day.

After all she didnt ask to be brought into this world and I'm honored to have her in my life. I feel I should be the greatful one. And all through the day she told M. My Mother's Day was pretty great, although not spent the way I had planned.
My ex-husband had invited me over for dinner (yes, my EX husband), however, my daughter is still in the hospital after having a baby last Thursday. So, he cooked me dinner Saturday night and my son and I drove an hour to the hospital to see my daughter and grandbaby. My sister was here from out of town and my mom was there as well. We visited at the hospital, went shopping for the baby, went back to the hospital, had a nice dinner and drove the hour home.
I'd have been happier if they'd let my little grandson go home, but I had a pretty nice day. It didn't rain. The sun was out.
It was a pretty great day.
We don't usually make a fuss over mother's day. It's usually just me and my kids. Sometimes just me and my son.
We just go with the flow and make it a great day regardless of what comes up.

The part of the day that was focused on just my daughter & me was great. We had a picnic at the park after church. We sat under an oak tree & shooed away the ants while we were eating. My 7 yr old said " I could stay here forever Mom". It was awesome...

Later in the day we went to a movie with friends & I listened to dating drama (not my idea of fun) on the way to the movie & on the way back. Oh well, at least the first part was good :)

I used to be a single mom. I made a point to celebrate motherhood and our relationship on that day. There wasn't anyone to pamper me. No breakfast in bed. But I made a tradition of taking my girl to the zoo, a differant zoo each year, on Mothers Day. I've got say, those were the best Mothers Days of all. There was no disapointment that it didn't turn out well or that noone remembered. It was just me and my honey bee! Wouldn't change it for the world.

As I always say, my young adult men are the best. They both took off of work early and made me dinner (BBQ Burgers-yum) and gave me gifts too-Home Depot Gift card and flowers! I don’t know what my life would be without them!!!

I was just thinking of posting something like this last night. Mine was good, but it was spent doing yard work, repairing kitchen cabinets and installing blinds. I even bought myself a new drill. My 11 year old hung out with me and helped. My daughter bought me a new wallet and my oldest son called from the Air Force to tell me happy mother's day.

It was a nice day, just thought it was funny I spent my time doing "handyman" work.

Awesome! I think of myself more as a divorced mom than single mom because her daddy and I parent together so much. I am really lucky that I don't have to wait for Mother's day to spend special time or feel appreciated my either of them. My daughter had her prom on Saturday night and had to work Sunday afternoon and evening.

It's funny. in some ways it's disappointing not to get any cards or presents, but then again it's nice to be able to celebrate it how you want. I unfortunately had to spend it doing homework, but in years past I've just hung out with my son... going to the movies and lunch.... and had some of the best Mom days ever. He really is the best 'date' I could hope for.

AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! My son's dad was a jerk and then we got into a huge fight. It of course turned into he's the martyred one and everything is my problem. Not his. He's the perfect one.
