When and what soap do you start using as your kids get older? This sounds stupid, I still use baby wash for my sons bath and washing his hair, he is almost four. I use the tear free Suave shampoo and conditioner for my daughter's hair. She is taking showers now and is almost seven, however buying that kids soap (the one that is wrapped so it doesn't slip and is tear free)is expensive and I just don't know when it is okay to transition to regular soap in the shower. I use dial with aloe in it. I always have used dial for as long as I can remember. Is Dove better for their skin and I know it isn't tear free but does it clean well????

What can I do next?

My daughter gets eczema pretty bad on her arms so we use Dove liquid soap for body wash...It actually is better than other moisturizing soaps...as far as expense goes we usually buy it at costco so it is cheaper for us that way. My kids have never been good at showers so we still do baths to get them all scrubbed up and we use our regular shampoo and conditioner for thier hair...started at about age 3 doing that. The last time I bought them "special" tears free shampoo they used it as bubble bath because it was in a colory bottle...not doing that again =D

I didn't even know they made such things as kid soap. we actually still use aveeno baby for our 6 1/2 year old for his hair and face. he had eczema as a toddler and he doesn't get it anymore except when we try to use a "kid" shampoo/soap. We spent a snowy weekend making our own soap (all supplies from hobby lobby) and I let them use that on their bodies and seems to do okay. Our 4 1/2 year old has long hair and we had to switch her about 6 months ago to a conditioning shampoo for the tangles (I hate the way the spray conditioners leave her hair) - we use the tear free though and use aveeno baby on her face. I have very sensitive skin and dial is not good for me - I'd stick w/dove or oil of olay for sensitive skin if you buy them "adult" soap.

I use the tear free with all of my kids until they are old enough to keep their eyes closed and the soap out, your 3 year old can use the same as the 6 year old and any body soap at this point is ok. I have never ran into a problem. Also as a side note the dollar stores offer some grat products for kids, it's made by Breck a known company and great products, plus it smells very good!

Yea- just wanted to second the dollar store- NOT the family dollar- nothing is actually a dollar there, but the dollar tree- everything is exactly a dollar and their Breck line for kids is GREAT!!! (Ps- my sister is 11 and still uses it...)!

We use Dove or Ivory for our 4 year old as he has sensitive skin. They both do well. He does fine with regular shampoo, as well.

If you can find it, Prue and NAtural is a safe good soap. They are old enough to use regular shampoo. I did it with my kids and didn't have a problem.

I still use baby bath/tear free for hair and body for my 5 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son. Most of the time they still take a bath. If you don't want them to "smell" like a baby...there are scents like Cucumber Melon, Vanilla etc. which are a good option.
My 8 yr old son uses the Tear Free Suave w/conditioner shampoo and regular soap. We use Lever 2000. I have also purchased kid's body wash for him so he can put it on a scrubby and suds away. He usually showers.
As for Dove, Aveeno and other soap products-they can get expensive, but watch for sales and coupons. I think Suave, the Breck kind at the Dollar Store and the "store brand" kind-like Equate are just fine for kids.
