Shower Cleaner

We moved into a house with well water, no water softener (may get one someday). The toilets come clean easily but I am having trouble with the showers, they are all rusty colored. I have tried fantastic and CLR. It takes the "top layer" off but it is still very streaky and I have to scrub really hard. Any good tips? Can I use bleach? Oh the showers are regular stalls, not tile. I also want it to be safe for my son to use the tub. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Have you tried Soft Scrub or Comet? Those are my 2 favorites.

We had the same situation. I used Kaboom, but don't spray onto drain or facets (will discolor). Recently I've been using comet spray and the powder w/ scrub brush. Works really well and doesn't cost that much.

Yes, you can use Bleach. That is the best tool for eating through that stuff.

Try Kaboom. Also we have used just plain peroxide which should be chemically safer for your son.

Have you heard of Whink? It's a fabulous rust remover!

Try Borax, or make a paste of vinegar and Borox. I would also try lemon juice. Just cut a lemon in half and rub it on the affected areas, then scrub.
