All knowledge is good knowledge. Even if this person is not as knowledgable as someone else, you will learn new things.
A friend of mine asked me if I would go with her to an event where the speaker is a spiritual leader who practices teaching people about self acceptance, homeopathy, etc. I have never been to anything like this, so I am curious to know any experiences that you may have had. This speaker is quite well known and supposedly is very gifted in the areas of self acceptance, spirituality, holistic medicine, homeopathy, etc.

I would go with an open mind. If it rings true to you, then it will be a positive experience. If parts don't, then you don't have any obligation to believe it. There are many spiritual paths, you have to find what feels right for you. If this really feels right for your friend, then be a support for her on her journey. Often, learning about a 'different' path just educates us on how similar the paths are, more than different. I agree with H Looloo.
Have fun, and enjoy the new experience.
What you can likely expect is a peaceful environment where people are open to hearing good news and having positive light shed on their lives. Some will even be there to offer positive light to the lives of others, because they realize that that is how their own blessings flow, by being blessings to others.
If you choose to go, don't disrupt the moment for your friend by asking a bunch of questions or being negative. Open your heart and soul to the beauty in the moment, and that is what you'll experience: Beauty.
I am a cynic so my first though was how much does the class they will tell you all about cost and how much are the books they are selling... I sort believe that it is all about them making money.
That said, you can learn interesting things from marketing pitches like this that can be applied to your life. Just try not to get suckered into spending money.
You did not say who the speaker was, but try googling them and see what comes up. If they have their own merchandising web site, be wary. Also see what other folks have attended are saying (but with a grain of salt since there is no way to judge the veracity of the reviews).
Good luck and if you go have fun!
Seeing as that is something I grew up around I love the idea - however it FULLY depends on who it is and if they have been vetted. There are A LOT of crooks out there and people who have their own interests at heart. So, who is this person you plan to see?
I went with my mom to see Sylvia Brown. On one hand it was interesting just to see how it was run, and because I do think there can be some alternative ways of healing and forgiving etc. but at the end, it was really just an old lady up on stage and a lot of hurting people in the audience and nothing else, there was not revelation, no sign from beyond.
Certainly go, but in my opinion any "work" would be done in a much more intimate setting, and not in an auditorium with a zillion people. people spend tons of money on all sorts of forms of entertainment etc, if you can afford the ticket, what is to lose?
like anything else, there are people who are truly gifted at this sort of thing, who can bring enlightenment and peace and health and blessings to those who are open to accepting it.
and for everyone who is actually good at this, there are a dozen wannabes who are there to sell books, make money and polish their own egos.
go there with an open mind and an eagerness to learn, and keep your judgment and healthy skepticism close to hand.
