I felt the same way before my last dr appointment. I asked her what the best multi vitamin was for women and she told me that Prenatal vitamins were the best whether you are pregnant or not and that they have everything in them that you need ! Hope this helps !

my hubby and I have been taking this...its so EASY and has EVERYTHING in it!!! It's liquid and pre mixed so you just shake it and take it. We have not been sick, have been sleeping better, and even my nails are growing out strong so I don't have to have acrylics anymore. Here is the website. Contact me if you have quesitons. There is a 60 day money back (minus shipping) if you don't like it, but I can't imagine that you wouldn't. http://www.YummyLiquidVitamins.com

Hi J.---Why do you feel you need to supplement with vitamins? This is probably the best place to start. Have you been diagnosed with deficiencies?

I work with several doctors and Naturopaths. The one I work with most closely also has her PhD in Nutrition. I can tell you what she teaches AND what I learned in my Foods classes at college...your best source of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and all of the other phytochemicals, is FOOD. Prior to my taking a series of wellness classes taught by Dr. Pam, I, too, was very confused when I considered maybe taking a multi-vitamin. You stand there in the store and are totally overwhelmed by all of the choices...and that doesn't even include the minerals and other antioxidants like beta-carotene, resveratrol or the many, many others.

So, food should be your first choice. I can also share many articles and research summaries that show that vitamins do NOT help to protect from cancer AND that they can even cause problems in the body. This is because a multi only contains a very small selection of all the nutrients found in food. There are over 10,000 known nutrients in an apple alone. There is no way that a manufacturer can put everything into one 'pill'.

So what do we do, as I truly believe that we do need help. Our food is NOT as nutritious as it once was, or needs to be to prevent disease as we age, or to even keep us healthy every day. We know this because kids are being diagnosed with old people diseases at younger and younger ages. Our best bet is to use a high quality, researched backed whole food based supplement. I know of one that many doctors and health care professionals around the country also recommend. It contains the juiced and dehydrated powders of 15 different fruits and veggies and the bran of 2 grains. It works to help strengthen and balance the immune system, protects and repairs DNA, supports the cardiovascular system (really impressive research) as well as reducing oxidative stress and markers of chronic inflammation, and the independent research proves it. If you would like to know more about what my family does for nutrition insurance, I would be most honored to share. I hope this has helped, giving you some info how you might want to proceed from here. Good luck. I look forward to hearing from you. In health, D.

a good whole foods multi (not whole foods the store, whole foods as in make sure to get your vitamins that are from food sources, although you can get this at whole foods, lol), being still young you should still need additional iron, because we lose alot, but being a woman you need vitamin d and magnesium to absorb your calcium, and additional ingredients are really up to you depending on your various needs.

extra bs for more energy
extra c and zinc if you get sick often

talk to your local lady at any health food store, usually they will not try to sell you something but really help, they are passionate about the subject.

If you have a Whole Foods Market near you, I would suggest that you take the 365 brand women's multi-vitamin. Stay away from the ones that you usually find at the grocery store or GNC because those usually have a lot of unnecessary fillers. Oh, and a DHA or Omega 3 capsule is really important for everyone's health. I use the ones by Nordic Naturals (also at whole foods) because they are made from fish that do not contain mercury.

Hope this helps.

Have to second the opinion on Shaklee - they do the research - they make their own or have their own made according to their specs - not just purchasing what is already mass produced and then putting their label on it - excellent reputation for over 50 years - they would rather lose money by not selling something than produce it with shabby raw materials.

The vitamins that have given me the most energy are the Right 4 Your Blood Type vitamins. Following the diet is also great, but hard.

Estroven Energy is great - don't let the name fool you, there's NO synthetic estrogen - it's ALL natural stuff. You should be taking a multi vitamin that's why I recommended it and also alpha lipoic acid to maintain young skin, flaxseed oil and fish oil for heart health and magnesium for sure. I also take acidophilus to keep my digestive tract clean (it's all probiotics) and I take grapeseed extract and vitamin C

If you find something you'd like to purchase, send me a private message and I'll help you get it ordered!

Enjoy! :)

It is critically important that any nutritional supplements you take are recognizable to your digestive system as food. Otherwise, your body will digest them as waste, and not absorb any of the nutrients. Nikken has a full line of organic, food-based vitamins and nutritional supplements. These are processed in a way that keeps living enzymes living, and makes them completely utilized by your body. Nikken has a core system of products that are good for everybody--(specific to men and women), as well as several specialized supplements for specific needs, such as bone health, liver support, etc. Please visit my website at www.nikken.com/brendaramsey to see our entire line of wellness products.

I love my Vitality 6 pack by Melaleuca. They have 85% absorption rate in comparison to others that you might buy OTC which have less than 15%. I noticed a huge difference when I switched.

I agree with Lynn M. Oligo vitamins from Melaleuca are the best! They have high absorption rate and their antioxidants don't get destroy during the processing. You can't find better ones anywhere!!

Shaklee vitamins are tested before (raw materials), during and after processing and AGAIN when the expiration date is up to insure you're getting what they say you're getting. NO OTHER company does that. And if you ask, they'll send you the test results!!! They dissolve quickly (except for the probiotic that's to dissolve in your intestines). They even have a sheet that you mark what's "ailing" you and it'll tell you what you should be taking. If you go to their website, you can find someone in San Antonio that can help you. I've been taking them for years.

you best bet is going to be buying online. trust me on this one! i have tried a ton! plus the ones at the stores are filled with a lot of fillers. I buy mine online from a whole-sale club. they are pretty inexpensive, but they work soooooooo well. i cant totally feel the difference if i have not taken them. i take them every morning now with a glass of green tea. it helps a lot! i dont know how comfortable you are buying online, but message me and i will give you all the info on where i buy mine!

I second what Diane has written. There are studies that show that vitamins are are really not that beneficial. Vitamins are very complex and they are not all the same. There are increasing reports saying the best place to go is food which are rich in phytochemicals. That requires of course a look at our diets as our western diet has gotten so out of balance with what you bodies really need. We sacrificing health for convenience. When I began getting sugar and breads out of my diet as well as 'junk' foods, my energy level changed and I felt calmer and more balanced and healthier too. It's rather counterintuitive to take vitamins and then not have a balanced diet. - You're right. It is confusing.

I've taken these for years and they are without a doubt the best. Not just my opinion, but a proven fact. Published in the Journal of American Medicine and other scientific journals. Referral only though so if you want info on how to get them please call or email.
