Dr. Joseph Behan ###-###-#### He is awsome and is not quick to prescribe the "norm" when it comes to hormone therapy.
I am searching for a ob-gyn who specializes in the bio-identical hormone replacement and who also accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I have been to my regular doctor and had blood work done only to be told that all my hormones are in the normal ranges. I am 43 years old and am quite sure that I am in peri-menopause because of other symptoms I have. I have to disagree strongly with my doctor because I am NOT the same person I was just 3 or 4 years ago. My desire for intimacy with my husband has dwindled to zilch. I love my handsome, husband VERY much and am very happy with him. There has to be a medical reason why this has happened because our sex life used to be great. I NEED HELP!!! Please, does anyone know if their gynos specialize in this area (or in menopause, etc.) My husband & I greatly appreciate ANY direction you could offer. I am not interested in taking the normal hormones that most doctors will offer... only the bio-identical hormones. I was VERY discouraged when my doctor said everything was normal because that would mean that something ELSE was wrong with me. I'm in perfect health (except the typical symptoms of perimenopause). Thank you all so much!

Trust your instincts and call Dr. Margaret Christensen.
If her office is not convenient for you, then you might call around to find a nearby endocrinologist who could and would prescribe bio-identical hormones.
Good luck!
Hi C.,
I am sorry I don't know of an OB/GYN for you but I wanted to mention something
I am 42 years old and felt like my hormones were causing me problems. My Dr actually told me it was nearly impossible to check hormones since they fluctuate so much. I found a chiropractor that had me do a spit test to discover I had almost zero amounts of progesterone except for one day per month through that test. She has resolved my problem through natural means which has taken longer but I feel better then ever. She told me blood tests are not a good marker for hormones. Maybe you can ask for a spit test.
Hi C.-
I don't know an OB to recommend to you. (Sorry, I know that's what you asked for!) But I did want to second what a PP said about the spit test. My midwife also uses the spit test for hormones. I too, was producing nearly no progesterone. But the blood tests weren't picking it up. When you find a practioner that you are happy with, you might also ask them to do the adrenal panel. It's a spit test as well. Lots of us women suffer from adrenal exhaustion and it can cause problems similar to what you are describing and/or mimic thyroid issues. Best wishes in your search!

C.,
I visited the Hotze Health and Wellness Center in Houston last year. It was great. They treat your symptoms, not a blood test. I take bio-identical hormones and a natural thyroid medicine that you can get from a compounding pharmacy here or through their pharmacy. They are great. You can call to speak with a new patient representative for no charge. All of your follow ups are done by phone.
I went for other medical reasons, but have been very pleased.

I think there is a doctor in Allen that will treat you naturally.
Good luck!
I completely understand your problem, because I am suffering from hormones fluctuations as well. I don't know how much research that you have done on hormones and issues. Your hormones fluctuate constantly. You would need to do constant testing to get the true issue that is wrong with you. When I say constantly I mean 24 hours a day. I have and overactive sex drive and my husband says he's tired all the time. I have horrible cystic acne and I'm pissed off all the time.
I would gladly give you my OB/GYN's name and number I don't know if she deals with the bio-identical hormones or not. I have a history which I cannot add hormones to my body - it only makes it worse. She is extremely sympathetic to my issues and works with me closely to make me comfortable. Have you asked how other people have reacted to the bio-identical hormones? I would love to know what you've found out.
Good luck!
Dr. John Paul Roberts is wonderful! His nurses are great too. He is part of ObGYN Associates of N Dallas. Phone number is ###-###-####. I have known him for quite some time and have delivered 3 girls with him. He is wonderful!
