Seeking Ob/gyn or CNM Practice in Annapolis/Severna Park Area

Looking to change from my current provider, as several of the docs in my current that I liked have moved on. I welcome any suggestions on practices in the area that you have been happy with, esp when it comes to OB/delivery care. I would love a practice that is open to unmedicated deliveries and the use of doulas. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Women's OB-GYN, which has offices at Anne Arundel Medical Center, is a practice I've been very pleased with. My doc there is Melissa Moen. The practice is all women doctors (not that they are necessarily better), they are open to basically anything, and--for my purposes--they are current on things like postpartum depression and psychiatric issues generally as they affect parenting.

Hi J.,
I love my docs at Annapolis ObGYN! I had them with my son and they did a great job. There are lots of docs there so it's pretty easy to get an appointment plus they have great hours! The only thing is I don't know if they do doulas but hey it might be worth a shot to check it out. Well I hope that helps!

Take Care,
K. Z.

I use, and love, Special Beginnings Birth Center in Arnold. It is a free standing birthcenter, with four midwives. You can choose to deliver at the birth center or at Arundel Medical Center.

The midwives are low-intervention, the birth center is peaceful and homelike, and the hospital is as good as they come: supportive nurses, you labor, deliver and recover in one private room, and your baby always stays with you.

I used the midwives for prenatal care, continue to use them for well-woman care, and will use them again when it's time for another baby. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Not sure who you are with now but Chesapeake Women's Care is definitely worth giving a try. We loved most of the doctors but in particular Dr. Kumar was fantastic with the birth of our son. He most definitely supported our birth plan and was very informative for worried first time parents. Good luck!
