Hey K.,
Annapolis OBGYN is a wonderful group of doctors. They have offices in Annapolis, Pasadena, Glen Burnie and Odenton. I delivered both my children with them and I love the doctors there.
I am a marathoner, active runner and active at the gym and I'm 10 weeks pregnant. I am looking for an Ob/Gyn that will advise me on staying active safely through my pregnancy. Any suggestions? Annapolis area doctor would be great.

The midwives at Special Beginnings Birth Center are terrific! You can birth either at their free-standing birth center or at AA Med. Ctr. They're pretty holistic and will encourage your healthy lifestyle throughout your pregnancy. Good luck with your decision making and your pregnancy!

I would recommend midwives at Special Beginnings or Bay Area Midwifery. If you are not comfortable birthing in the birth center both deliver at AAMC, although birth center environment is much more low key. Good luck!
I think all the doctors at Women Ob/Gyn at the Waysons Pavilion (Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD) are wonderful. I highly recommend that practice. Dr. Janice Bird of that practice delivered my first child last year in February. She is wonderful. You do have to see all the doctors there during your pregnancy though. All of those doctors encourage healthy eating and exercise during pregnancy.
I really like the Bay Area Midwifery Clinic, located in the Medical Complex on Jennifer Rd. You don't have to do a natural birth or anything to go there - they provide those options, but the emphasis is on a healthy baby and a healthy Mom. You can birth in their center or in the adjoined hospital. It's all women and they don't look at pregnancy as a sickness - they encouraged me to be active and supported me to keep swimming up until the day of my birth. I've been a triathlete, marathoner, swimmer, etc. and exercising up until my birth made recovery so much easier. That said, i don't think I wanted to run after 6 months - I was just too uncomfortable. But swimming, stationary biking and the elliptical stairmasters were awesome right up until my day! I'm 36 w/ one bambino...
Good luck!
I'm not an athlete (anything but) but I will second Jaclyn here--I go to the same practice and they are terrific. Dr. Bird helped deliver my second child. Melissa Moen is the doctor I usually see and she is terrific, too. The office staff is also efficient and friendly, which is important; a poor office staff can make even a good doctor look bad.
I've had 3 children with Chesapeaek Women's Care (also in the Wayson Pav.) Dr. Penn is great!!!
