I'm new to the area and looking for a female Primpary Care Physician and/or OB/GYN. I'm looking for someone who is very capable and knowledgeable and yet a good listener, friendly, down to earth etc. Reasonably easy to get an appointment. Also, open to alternative treatments, nutrition etc wouldn't hurt. Anyone have a doc OR nurse practitioner that you really love? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi! Welcome to the area!

I see Dr. Theresa Homan at Fox Valley Women's and Children's Health Partners in St. Charles (rt.64 and Peck Rd). She sounds exactly what you are looking for! She is awesome, very friendly, down to earth, realistic, she definitely listens (after having my first daughter, who was very big...she listened to my concerns with my second daughter and agreed to deliver early!). She is open to alternative treatments, in fact, she was the one who referred me to my first chiropractor when I was pregnant the first time. It's relatively easy to get appointments with her and if not they have 3 NP's that are all great. There are a few other women OB/Gyn's at that practice who are all very capable, though I only have personal experience with Homan and Dr. Mills (female).
Another awesome thing about their practice is that they also have pediatricians there now! I believe one is a female and the other is male (very well known in the area).

The building they are in is brand new, though they are an experienced practice. Check out their website:

Fox Prairie Medical Group in St. Charles, ###-###-####. I see Dr. Stasia Kahn and have been going to her for 15+ years. Love her, good listener! She is a PCP. For OB-GYN I see Dr. Hardy at Female Healthcare ###-###-####. They are on Army Trail in Bloomindale just west of Gary. She is very good and they have awesome hours! Plus they do ultra sounds, mamograms and bone denisty testing all in house. Good Luck! K.

Dr. Fahey at Geneva Family Practice - ###-###-#### (in the offices near Delnor Hospital) is our family doctor. Which means he's my OB/GYN as well as my kids' pediatrician. We absolutely love him. He's very laid back, but explains things until you could pass a test on them. My kids love him and the several people I've referred to him love him too.
Good luck!
