My family is new to San Antonio and I need to find a dentist. I'd like to know of one for my husband and I, but also a pediatric dentist for when my daughter needs to start going.

These are kind of North Central, but David Seguine on Thousand Oaks is really great. We had him recommended by some people, and we love him and his office. I recommended him to a friend and she loves him too.
We have also been using the pediatric dentist right next door to Dr. Seguine. He was really nice and very reasonable. He has safe sounding recommendations on flouride, he doesn't do x-rays until your child's teeth are all in and in their final positions, and he had a really nice bed-side-manner with my 2-year-old.

My husband and I really love our dentist. We've been using her for the 8 years we've lived in SA. She's located in the Frost Bank building at Thousand Oaks and 281. Her name is Dr. Sonia Jennings. She practices by herself but has several techs and I'm rarely kept waiting more than a couple of minutes.
Dr. Robert Chaffin - at Thousand Oaks and Jones-Maltsberger. He is great and so is the staff. My daughter saw him for the first few times until she need some other work done. We all love him.
For her pediatric work we go right down the street to Henderson Pass and Thousand Oaks to Dr. James Doose. Again, he is wonderful and my daughter thinks he hung the moon!!!!

Dr. James Chancellor, near I-35 and Walzem. ###-###-####, Monday through Thursday. He's wonderful, and so is his staff. In the interest of full disclosure, I should tell you he's my dad, so I could be a bit biased. But I used to run his front desk, and I've seen how his patients love him-- even the apprehensive ones.
FYI, I don't think you necessarily have to take your daughter to a pediatric dentist. Children can see a general dentist, if there are no major dental problems requiring a specialist. Main consideration is how comfortable the child and her parents are with the people providing the care, so that it is a positive experience for her. (Obviously, pediatric dentists are used to dealing with children, and presumably ENJOY kids. If you find a general dentist you like, ask him/her if he's open to seeing your daughter in a couple if years.) Of course, a general dentist won't have as many toys in the waiting room and all the juvenile decor!
Dad's been in practice for over 30 years. He's not on any participating provider lists, but he'll accept assignment of benefits for most insurance plans. Nice office, but not one of those high-priced "boutique" places. He does good work.

My dentist is wonderful. At one point I used another one for a few months under a dental plan and it almost cost me all my teeth and $15,000.
