Any good photographer will edit out the scratch :) I just did a shoot in March of a VERY pregnant mama, stretch marks and all, and I edited out everything :)
O.k. so this is sad thing to be sad about but...I scratched my big ol' pregnant belly today with my fingernail trying on clothes. I now have a good 2' long red scratch on the right side of my belly! And I am wondering two things. One if any of you know of anything that might heal it faster I have my maternity pictures in a week. Or two do you have any cute poses or ideas on what to do to cover up the unsightly scratch. The only reason this is bothering me so much is this is my third pregnancy but I have never had any pictures taken of my belly near the end and now that I can I went and marked it up...lol My skin is so easy to scratch when it is so stretched out and I forgot :( Oh and I have never done the makup thing and thought about that but have no idea at all where to even start.
Thanks in advance

Keeping it hydrated with a good lotion might help reduce the appearance of the scratches.
I'd call the photographer and explain the situation and see if there's anything they recommend (make-up), different positions/lighting that might help masquerade the scratches.
If it is a professional Photographer they can cover it when they do the touch ups on your final picks.. It is very easy for them to do. My husband is a professional photographer, he can make photos of people with eyes closed look like they are open and no one can tell the difference.
Call ahead to verify they have this technology, if they don't then you can work witth cover up make up.
Photoshop is a wonderful thing!
Ummmmm... how about putting your hand over it.... ?
You know.. like you are rubbing your tummy?
I would say neosporin until the day to help it heal faster, and lotion the belly, and then day of , maybe try some foundation or mineral makeup over it to cover. Also, like others said, ask the Photographer about touch-ups.
Another idea for th epics, put your two hands on your belly, with fingers opointing down, first fingers and thumbs touching each other to make a heart shape on your belly in between your 2 hands...i saw someone with a belly pic like that and always thought it was touching.
Call your photographer. She can probably touch the photo up with her software and make the scratch disappear! Most of them have photoshop and do this for blemishes, why not a scratch?
The photographer can probably edit it out. Mine has told me about several instances like yours that she was able to hide easily.

HI H.,
How fun to be taking the pictures! Big, beautiful baby belly, I love it!!
I find neosporin and a band aid (or maybe a few band-aids :) work WONDERS in healing things fast ..
good luck!!

Coverup works on all skin, not just facial skin.
Back when God was a boy and I was modeling... I'd frequently be painted head to toe. These days they use airbrushes to apply makeup... but back then we'd just use/ they'd use sponges. They both work. Airbrushes are just faster.
You can use neosporin or put a little make up on your belly if its not healed by then. Also, the photographer could fix it for you with some programs they have to do that. I know at school they ask for the school picture if you want them to do that to your kids picture, of course they charge a little more, but whatever it is they do to the pictures it takes all the blemishes away.
So don't worry about it, technology will safe you on this one :)
Blessings
As mentioned, neosporin is great for helping the healing along. Also, call the photog and see if they do touch ups. Most do them now so they might be able to brush them out. You do know you only scratched yourself because you will be taking the pics, right? ; ) My daughter kissed the ground last week, the day before we were supposed to go get pictures taken. We are doing them next week instead--and I am not telling the kids until the night before.
I saw the cutest maternity picture. The mom held her hands on front of her belly with palms facing baby and thumbs pointed up and fingers meeting in the middle. Across the top of her index finger she spelled out the name of the expected baby with scrabble tiles. She just lined up each letter so that they were resting on her finger and the back of each letter was supported by her belly. If you haven't selected a name yet you could spell out "little girl" or even just "baby #3" or Baby Smith" It was so cute.
The same thing happened to me with my huge belly and I thought it was scratches. Turns out they're new strech marks that happened overnight. This was a big shock as this is my second pregnancy and I didn't have any before. I've been using Pond's moisturizing cream (with the blue lid) every day since (as I did with my first pregnancy and should have with this one) and so far, no new marks. The "scratches" are not so apparent now. Maybe you can just cover it with your hand for the pics, if makeup doesn't do the trick. The photographer can also easily retouch them.
I'd say try putting neosporin cream on it twice daily. I think it would heal up in a week. If it doesn't try a little bit of foundation (lighter than what you'd wear for your face)...mix it with a dab of water in your palm and them just dab it on the scratch with a makeup sponge. Good luck!
Well...there are several options here. First, maybe you should take a pic or two with the scratch! When our belly is that big, getting bumps and bruises is part of toting that big ol' thing around with us! Take some make up with you to cover after the "damage" pics! There is a make up called Dermablend that will cover...or Bare Escentuals make up will cover...both available at Ulta.com (or Nordstrom) both have retail stores! I think they're both under 30 bucks! Good luck and congratulations, Mama!
Any good photog she be able to remove that like a breeze in Photo Shop. I'd Call the photog and make sure they can because it is really hit or miss if it's gone. Visine will take the red out of any afflection.
But that is beside the point any good photog should be well versed in Photo Shop and if they aren't I'd find another.
Hi H.,
I would contact your photographer and see if they do any touchups! I am a photographer and anything big like "scratches" I will automatically just touchup for my clients! Don't worry you will love the photo session! Are you doing it with kids too?
