UGH!! No matter how many times I have told my kids to keep the kittens away from their face...they just don't listen! I am getting married sat and my daughter got scratched down her face last night!!! It looks horrible. Is their anything I can do to cover this up so she won't look like Freddy Krueger got ahold of her! LOL! I am keeping neosporin on it. My biggest problem with coverup is she is VERY fair skinned. Just lsst weeks ago my other daughter got scrated on her face, but she is nearly healed and can barely see it. You'd think the kids would learn to put the kitties down when they meow and squirm. Any quick fixes (IF ANY) would be greatful!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone. I have relaxed and the initial shock of disfigurement has pasted (for the most part) LOL! It does
look better and I have stopped the neosporin. I'll just have ONE MORE thing to poke fun at when she's older.

Try Vitamin E oil on the scratch. It should aid in healing and help prevent scarring. Good luck and congratulations!

I'll tell you what I told my daughter before she got married. Don't sweat the small stuff, things will go wrong, don't let it bother you!! You can always laugh at the pictures later, but couldn't laugh if it upset's you so much that you don't have a good time. Besides who wants a 'perfect' wedding, that would also mean forgettable. What we remember fondly is the ring bearer rolling on the floor, the groom trying to put the ring on the wrong hand, her sister not getting through her speech without crying, those are the memories!
Now you already have a story, why cover it up? You can always correct it in the photo's, but let the little girl be herself.
Good luck with the rest of your life, it looks like you have a good start!

Aloe Vera plant....you need to keep one on hand. Cut off part of one leaf, open and rub over affected area. Good for burns as well. Hope this helps

First, is there any where you can send the kitties until after the wedding? Obviously, the kids aren't getting the message.

Secondly, the neosporin is probably as good as anything...I'd say if you could get a bandaid on her it might heal a bit faster. Mederma works for scars but I don't know that it would work any faster than the Neosporin would at this point.

As for make up cover up...you didn't mention what time the wedding was but I'd make an appointment at Dillards and have one of the make up consultants give her a makeover...I'd try Clinque or Estee Lauder. Estee always had great coverage stuff for me and I'm EXTREMELY pale skinned. That way she gets "prettied up" and feels like a big girl, you get a professional make up job, and she doesn't look like a clown for the wedding.

Hope this helps. Good luck & congrats on the wedding!

Neosporin is great! You could also try soaking a wash cloth in warm water mixed with epsom salt (youcan find it near the alcohol, peroxide, etc at WalMart) & having her hold this on the scratch for 10-15 minutes (if possible, anything will help) & this will usually help with the redness as well help heal the cut. I use this in the kids' baths anytime they get a cut, scrape, mosquito bites, etc.

Congratulations H.!!!!!! Sweetie Don't worry about her little face looking a little bit on the damaged side. It will be a memory to look back on.
You can always tell your guests she was playing King of the Mountain with the kitten, and Kitty won. ;)

If you really think you need to cover it only use a soft powder, makeup may cause her skin to be even more irriated.

Have a Wonderful Wedding Day H.!!! God Bless you and your Awesome Family Always

I know how you feel. Two days before my wedding one of the groomsmen was up in a tree using a chainsaw to cut limbs. Somehow he fell out of the tree and showed up at the wedding with bruises all over his face and his arm in a sling. The other post was right, looking back on it now, it's just one more story that made our wedding day unique to us.

(by the way, our photographer did place him in the group shots so that the side with less bruises was towards the camera)

I would switch from Neosporin to Mederma. It will heal better. Next...i hate to even suggest this, but take her to a makeup counter and see what they can do. Since your daughter is fair skinned, Shishedo may be a good start.

Good luck on your wedding!

You may want to stop the Neosporin since it is on her face. My husband and I have had numerous surgeries, and the surgeons always recommended NOT using Neosporin on areas that would be a bad place for scarring. Apparently, although it fights infection, it also encourages scarring.

Go to the MAC counter. Studio Fix (or the Studio Tech) should do the trick to cover it up and with SO many tones, it'll look natural. I'm extremely fair skinned and have always found their powders can cover just about anything (including some TERRIBLE melasma from pregnancy), without looking like makeup.
Congrats!

You'll definitely need to use cover up for the wedding. Congrats by the way.

But, I do suggest you pick up that electric nail trimmer for pets. You can find them at Walgreens and all over the place really. I bought one for our new kitten. It takes 2 of us to hold her. But it works fantastic and no one is getting scratched at all. We do all her nails every 3-4 days. She really hates it. But she's getting a little less frantic about it and as he ages I think she'll figure it out.

Hello, first off:The kitties. Try buying soft paws or a similar brand of nail caps to put over the kittens nails. My cat used them for the first 6 months and they worked wonderfully, I never got scratched, and now he doesn't scratch anything at all. Secondly: You could try taking your daughter to get her makeup professionally done before the wedding, since fair skin is somtimes hard to work with. Just go to the makeup counter at a department store and they can probably work wonders. Have a great wedding!

Hydrogen peroxide works wonders and very quickly! Dab a little on the scratch and let it bubble and then air dry. My one inch scratch that was taking forever to heal faded and was barely visible in less than 24 hours when I decided to apply hydrogen peroxide.
Good luck! I don't know anything about Mederma Scar Cream, but it is another idea.
Enjoy your wedding day! Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together.
P.S. By all means, put the kittens somewhere where they are off limits until the wedding!
