My husband just got me a Roomba (those robot vacuums) for Christmas (which I specifically asked for, so no, I wasn't offended!) and I was just wondering if any of you had one and would share any experiences with it, good or bad. I'm just curious as to how other Roomba owners like theirs. So far I like mine (although the cat's not too thrilled!), but was just wondering if there were any unseen pitfalls. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have a Roomba and a Scooba (the mopping version). They're great if you have the right kind of house. We have a lot of furniture that the Roomba gets stuck on, so we have to move stuff out of the room and put up a bunch of barricades, and it ends up being more trouble than it's worth. These days I just break out the regular vacuum.

My husband got me one for mother's day, and I love it. He knew it would help me with my cleaning business, and our own home. I was quite surprised how well it pick up! As well as it does go under furniture and doesn't fall down stairs etc. Because hair wraps around any vaccum every time I dump out the trash it picks up , well not every time, every 3rd time I take sewing scissors and cut the hair out of the ends that it wraps around. The only complaint is it doesn't vacum on shag carpets but other than that it's great.oh, and It's also not loud. :)

I LOVE mine! We've had one now for about 4 years....gone thru about 5 of them so I will give you that warning...but I bought it from Costco so whenever it has a problem I can return it for a new one.

Over the years tho I have worked out some of the problems it has. Yes, it is a PITA to clean & you need to clean it often - esp in my house with mine & my daughters long hair. But it is less work than vacuuming all the rooms. I use it to vacuum our closets, bathrooms, bedrooms. I don't use it to do our living areas tho...I prefer to be able to contain it.

If you have a problem with it make sure you have cleaned it as best you can & then call the tech support, they have been very helpful telling me what to clean that I did not know about...like the front wheel comes all the way out & the little yellow sprockets on the side need to get pulled out & cleaned.

Enjoy!

I love my Roomba! I swear, some days it's the only critter in my house I like ;-)

The only problem I have is my long hair- it gets wrapped around the brushes, so I have to clean those out more often than I would otherwise.
