Ron Paul

I wouldn't vote for him, but I do have a lot of respect for him. He is one of the only candidates I've seen who doesn't change his stand on issues depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Bug - Ron Paul IS from Texas.

I love Ron Paul. Of course some of the things he says scare us but they need to be done! He doesn't say what he thinks people want to hear to get their votes.... which is why he will never win. I wish more people would wake up and realize this country is headed for horrible times if we don't start doing something drastic. Every branch of government seems so corrupt these days, its hard to trust anyone. But I really feel like I can trust him. Love Ron Paul!!

Again, if the last 2 men standing are Paul & Obama, I will choose Paul any day of the week.......I don't agree with everything Paul does/says HOWEVER I absolutely disagree with Obama on everything............I probably would even pick Charlie 'crack smokin' Sheen over Obama............and for anyone (you know who you are) that wants to throw the 'race' card out there, I am a minority J. like Obama is, so find something else to throw out there

He's the only guy who speaks the truth, truly understands the Constitution and doesn't change his political positions to get re-elected. He does say some strange things. And his opinion on Iran (in the debate) left M. shaking my head. He doesn't have a chance anyway. But I think we need to listen to him on more than a few things.

added: I'd like to know where people get the idea he's a racist and homophobe! He does believe in our right to own a firearm. If that's gun-toting, then so be it. I am a gun-toter.

I have a lot of respect for Ron Paul, he seems to be the only polititician that sticks to what he belives in, a lot of them seem to change their tune frequently depending on which way the political wind is blowing or say whatever will get them the most votes. He's been consistent ever since he started running for political office.

He's also fiscal conservative who spoke up about the dangers of federal mortgage program years before the housing bubble collapsed.

In regards to previous post, although ron paul wants to decrease the size of department of education (whose size has doubled since he started in politics) he doesn't want to get rid of public schools and believes in raising teacher salaries. And that people who chose to buy homeschooling materials or private schools should get a tax writeoff.

I'm not sure I would vote for him, mainly because I don't think he would win.

I live in Houston but don't live in his district. He is a true libertarian. I watched him in the debate and I liked some of what he said. That being said, I wouldn't vote for him. He does not think Iran is a threat to our country and doesn't think its a big deal that they get nuclear weapons. Yeah, I have a problem with that one!

He makes some good points but when he said, What's the big deal if Iran gets nuclear weapons?, he lost my vote. Hello? They want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth! Um, that's a quite a big deal, sir!!

Ron Paul seems to believe that the way to solve our problems is to blow up the existing systems. Umm... yeah, okay, everything doesn't run as efficiently as we would like, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water! Having no Dept of Education - really?! Can you imagine what it would be like having kids in a state with a lower income level in that case? If you couldn't afford private school tuition, I guess your kids J. wouldn't have an education! Are we really okay with this as a society? Sure, education is expensive, but ignorance is much more expensive than that. (And that's J. the tip of the iceberg on Ron Paul's wacky ideas...)

From the little I know, he's a gun-toting, racist, homophobic who plans to dismantle the Dept. of Education and give all educational matter control to the states...no standards countrywide.....not sure if that's a great position.

But at least he's an independent thinker and a fresh voice that's NOT J. regurgitating the same things over and over.....AND he's from Pittsburgh! :)

Well...he wants to end The Department of Education, and Homeland Security. While I agree those areas are flawed, we need them. He doesn't want border patrols for drugs and terrorism. Move to Texas, Mr. Paul. We'll see how you feel about border patrols. He wants to get rid of the IRS and income tax. Sounds like a dream, right? Umm...what about schools, roads, medicare help for the citizens. Yah...that's J. stupid. Again, the system is flawed. It's need to be reformed, big time. But we still NEED those things.

I think he is COMPLETELY unrealistic. He wants to do away with everything. Everything needs reform, but we still need infrastructure.

And...he's too old. He's 76. Too old. Elderly. No thanks.

I think he's a little wacky but in a good way. I'm glad that there a people like him with a voice in national politics, but I wouldn't vote for him for President. I put him in the same group as Ralph Nader or a woman in my state who perpetually runs for Governor in the Green Party - they'll never win, but I'm glad they are there.

I agree with half of what he says, the other half scares the beejeezus out of M.. The half that I agree with includes ending the wars, getting out of foreign countries and stopping this silly nation-building in countries that hate us. Out of all of the GOP candidates, he seems to have the most integrity, is not a flip flopper, isn't a wacky religious fundamentalist and on the surface, doesn't SEEM to be beholden to corporate interests. Because I strongly disagree with the other half of his platform (mostly social issues and social net issues); I will never vote for him. But his lack of cheesiness goes a long way with M..

Bless his heart. I think he does have some good ideas, but I have seen him speak in person and he seems a little (ok, quite a bit) out there.

He has good points, but I do not think he is a leader or anyone would take seriously.
