ykers the gifts I received this year did not hit the mark so well, not that I said anything other than thank you.

can any one help w a specific return? I received a vera Bradley piece that is not to my liking, there was no gift receipt but the upc code is on the tag I think. I believe it was purchased out of town and the giver is a super shopper so probably got a screaming deal. will vera let me exchange for something equal in value the way yankee candle lets you swap scents, or are their "lines" exclusive and something that is bought months ago is no longer being carried an not returnable??

also is there a way to return stuff a Kohls with out getting screwed? I've tried to just switch colors of bath towels before and some how no matter what I end up owing for the exact same thing in a diff color. I want to exchange a large bathmat for a small one of the same brand with out oweing, Is that possible?

any great return stories of your own or any good tips formaking it easy??, seems like policiies aren't as clear cut as they once were.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

lol sounds like no one has ever returned vbradley.

I did ask for a receipt for the bath mat, she just said she paid $15 for it on sale and w kohls cash etc etc.So I won't be seeing a recipt.
from past experience with out a receipt at kohls, if you try to return a $10 item they will offer you $2 in kohls store credit. because w all the deals you get on large purchases it isn't straight forward value of what they put back on the shelf but it's tied into the rest of the givers purchases. which fries me so I hate shopping at kohls.

I can't even regift this stuff, so yard sale this spring.

Ask the people that gave you the gifts for a gift receipt or a way to exchange them. I can't believe you would waste their money just so you don't have to admit you didn't like the gift.

Most people aren't bothered when someone says they didn't like the color, the style, but that you lose 25 to 50% of the value, that would be annoying.

Have you contacted either Vera Bradley or Kohls?

is the tag a Kohl's tag? They will usually let you excange or give you store credit for the sales price without the receipt.

If you can contact the giver and find out if she still has the receipt so you might be able to exchange it - that would be nice. I understand it's hard to tell someone "it's not right for me".

If you don't feel comfortable doing that - contact Vera Bradley directly....

They are closed today...but you can try tomorrow.

If you don't like the price the store is offering? Take it to a consignment shop and sell it there.

Best way I can think of to do returns is to bring the receipt and be honest with the cashier - this isn't the right thing for me...can I get store credit?

Hope that helps!

Kohl's had a specific holiday return line when I went there. I had no returns, but I would go there and see what they'll do for you. When my SD went to H&M with no receipt, they gave her the current price of the item (not what was on the tag) and store credit. If they won't give you an exchange or money, would they give store credit? They may. SD's one shirt no longer showed up in their inventory, but they worked out something for her.

I have no idea about Vera items.

I know exactly what you're saying about Kohl's. While they are very lenient with what they will take back, they have changed their policy with the Kohl's cash so that it doesn't necessarily pay to return it if Kohl's Cash was used. I had something that I bought on sale for $95 that they wanted to give me $16 for because I used Kohl's cash. I ended up keeping it and gifted it at Christmas time. I was tempted to return it without a receipt and take the lowest offered price because I was sure it was more than $16.

So personally I would take the bathmat back without a receipt and hope for a store credit worth more than a few dollars. You can always opt to keep it if the price is too low.

Now I am very cautious what I use Kohl's cash on.

Oh, I just remembered that they offered to let me 'exchange' the item for something of equal original retail value. You could try that.

I've never bought anything VB so I can't speak to that.

Do not ask the person for a receipt. Either try to exchange it, regift it, yard sale, etc.

Weird.
I find kohls to be the easiest returns on the planet.
BUT if you have no receipt, the most you'll get is the lowest price for which it's ever been offered.
As for VB stuff... I would imagine same thing--you'll get the lowest sale price. Pretty much SOP anywhere without a receipt.

I hate Vera Bradley's stuff. I looked at their website and it says no exchanges and you have to have a receipt to return it. I would probably hold on to it and regift it if I got one.
