How Much Do Their Feet Grow at Age 2?

Hey moms!
I have a girl going on 2 years old, and I'd like to buy some summer shoes on clearance right now for next year... but don't know whether to go up 1 size or more.

How much did your kids' feet grow in their second year, from their 2nd birthday to their 3rd?

What can I do next?

My son wore a size 6 last summer and is in about an 8 right now. He turned 2 at the end of last summer and will be 3 mid-August. I did buy him a few pair of summer shoes last year in a 7 and he was able to wear them for a bit, but I did end up buying new ones. I also had a few that never worked. I eneded up listing them on Craigslist for what I paid for them and they sold right away!! I hope that helped a little.

It is not possible to guess what size she will be by next year, in my opinion. My daughter has grown so fast that she has skipped shoe sizes, and clothing sizes, along the way. I would not buy shoes or clothes out of season because of this.

I agree, it's too hard to know. My son is 18 months and was in a size 6 this spring. Now only a few months later he needs an 8. It completely depends on the kid. You can buy them now but I wouldn't be too disappointed if they don't fit next summer.
Also you can always try to return something without a receipt, and get store credit. I know Target allows two returns without a receipt per year for store credit [that still wasn't enough to handle all of the doubles we got for toys for Christmas-but I had my mom and my brother return things too]. However, if what you buy this year is not going to be in stock ever again, they probably wont take it anyway. Most stores have a completely different selection each season, each year.

both my kids' feet have grown 2 sizes a year, so far - my kids are exactly 2 years apart and my daughter actually uses my son's old shoes as play shoes. But sometimes they will outgrow a size during the "season" anyways...

My middle guy turned 2 in Dec. and was wearing size 7. Now he's in an 8, and I wouldn't be surprised if he needs new shoes before his next birthday.
You can probably count on at least a size and a half between 2 and 3.

J.,
It really depends...my suggestion would be to buy it at a store that accepts returns after a long period of time. I always buy my kids clothes on clearance from Kohls. I ask for a gift receipt for each item and immediately after getting home, I tape the receipt to the tag. That way, if they don't fit into the clothes when they are in season I have 2 options: return them using my gift receipt (in-store credit only) or looking for the dated receipt that matches the gift receipt. Kohl's may even be able to match your return item with your credit card (if you use a Kohl's card.)
Happy shopping!
