Refinancing Our House: Suggestions!

I used a broker and refinanced my home + 2 rental properties through them. They found me much better rates than what my local banks were offering. I found them via Lending Tree on-line.

I also disagree with the Broker comment. They do not charge extra fees over what any bank would charge, and they have many options to offer over traditional lending institutions. My husband owns a Mortgage Company in Lee's Summit and to tell you the truth, it is offensive when someone says that the Broker really doesn't do anything. Tell me about it when he is at work until 9:00 each night busting his butt to make sure his customers close on time, get into new homes and save them money through refinancing.

I disagree with the mortgage broker comment. I always use a broker, and he does a great job. He finds me great deals and since I use him and refer him a lot he doesn't charge me for the loan application fee and covers a portion of my closing costs. Banks have only their best interest in mind, a broker has yours.

Just don't use a broker. They add a fee on top of the others and they really don't do anything. Check with the mortgage company you are currently with and you may get less fees.

Check with your bank - sometimes they have great deals. We used these guys last go around and (after a bit of hopping around) found them to be fantastic: Mortgage Solutions ###-###-####. BTW, had bad experiences with both Amerisave and GMAC / ditech.
