Recommendations for Glider Chairs

Can't say anything about the storkcraft, but I bought a dutalier glider used on craigslist (take a look - you may find a deal) and have been very pleased with it. Only features I wish it maybe had were a lock to keep it from gliding (so I wouldn't have to worry about little ones pinching their fingers) and also now that my son is so *long* I have to sit forward to nurse him because he kicks the armrests and pushes his head way off my breast. Still, I don't think any of the other glider/rockers that I saw had wider spaced armrests unless you went for the humungous armchair type ones, and we simply don't have the space for that. I have a rocker ottoman that I got with mine but I never use it - if it hadn't been free probably wouldn't bother with this - would get a nursing stool instead.

Hi D., I have the fully upholstered Dutalier and ottoman and love it!! It is great for breastfeeding and late night rocking. The newer models offer a recliner. I would definitely get that feature. There were so many nights that I thought it would be so much easier if I could just recline and sleep with the baby. Make sure you get the glider ottoman as well.

I have a dutalier rocker recliner that locks, and a rocking footrest and although expensive (I think almost $500) not a day has gone by with my 8 month old, or when my 2 year old was an infant that I haven't been thankful to have them. I have often fallen asleep quite comfortably in the chair.

I remember I purchased them new through a retailer on ebay, but don't recall the name (since it was a few years ago). I was able to select fabric color and wood type just as in the stores. I also went to a couple baby stores to try out different models first.

I almost bought a Dutalier until I lifted my feet up to put on an ottoman and was almost thrown forward out of the chair. I asked my husband if it was just because I was "top heavy" - being 8 months pregnant. He tried it and it did the same thing and we visited several stores with the same results. Since we didn't want to invest in a gliding ottomon as well (most people I asked told me not to buy a gliding ottoman because it made feeding much more difficult) we started looking at a Lazy Boy. I was really surprised. I'm not a huge puffy recliner fan, but we found a newer, more stylish model in a neutral yellow pattern. It rocks, reclines, and locks. When my daughter went through a period of separation anxiety I slept in it for a week with her. Totally worth the money and I'm looking forward to using it in other areas of the house in the future. I like that it doesn't scream nursery rocker.

We got a dutalier from furniturekidz and love it, lots of use with the reclining feature too since we have to hold our daughter upright after feedings since she has gastric reflux....we bought ours from furniturekidz- there is a store in Algonquin and also a new one in deerpark and we very pleased with the service and quality- it's a family owned business.
