I have a baby due in about 4 weeks. I am wanting to purchase either a rocking chair or a glider for rocking him to sleep and sitting in to nurse. Which one would be better and more comfortable?

Glider with glider ottomin is my recomendation. It is so much easier to get up and down. You will spend so much time in it so get one with a high back.
I agree with all the other mommas! Gliders especially with the ottomans are the way to go!
I used a rocking chair for nursing the first baby because it was given to us. It was actually quite comfortable. I got a rocker recliner with my second and wouldn't trade it for the world. I think I slept in it at least twice a day in the first few weeks after my son was born. Can't do that in a regular chair! Also, the rocker-recliner can now become a part of our regular furniture.
However, I have lots of friends with gliders and they are comfy, but I actually wouldn't recommend the ottomans that go with them. It's better for your back to use a smaller step stool or "nursing stool" (Medela makes one). Also, rounded or upholstered arms are nice. I can't tell you how many times I've banged a baby's head or my arm/elbow on the wooden arm of a rocker or glider.
For about the same price as one of those nice gliders, I went to Stacy's Furniture in Grapevine and got a rocking reclining glider... picked out my fabric and I love it to this day! It's also SIZED for a woman which means my head isn't being forced forward like regular recliners. I'd suggest doing that if you're going to spend the money. :)
I bought a glider with an ottoman and I don't think I would have it any other way. I have used a rocker to nurse my little one while visiting friends and it made me even more glad I picked the glider! It is so comfy that the few times I had to rock my daughter in the middle of the night, I could fall asleep in it too. Congratulations and enjoy the new addition to your family!
I have both. I prefer the rocker for nursing. The glider is definitely more comfy for lounging/relaxing! The rocker is also like 1/5 the price if you get an ottoman w/your glider!

I've had both. I have to say that in my opinion the glider was much more comfortable to sit in than the normal rocking chair. Especially if you can get an ottoman to go with it.
I bought an overstuffed gilder w/ottoman and still use it to this day to read to my son (soon to be 18 months)
I just love it.

Glider all the way! I picked out fabric to match my furniture. I have a 3 1/2 year old and an 11 month old and I sit in it everyday even w/out rocking. It is soo comphy, i sit in it to watch tv. Every mom should have a glider. Mine also has a pocket on each side. I put the phone, remote control, burp cloth, etc. in it so I don't have to get up while rocking. I never used the ottoman. I always just used a nursing stool.

We bought a glider for my first, it is still in her room 3 years later and we read stories in it at bedtime. I couldn't imagine not having it, so when we had our second, we bought another one for her room, too!
