Questions About Dr. Bain of Frisco

Hey ladies, I want to try out Dr. Deborah Bain (Frisco) for my son's ped. I have heard countless times that she is an awesome doctor. But I had doubts about her availability since she is so extremely popular. My friend went to interview her for her newborn son and she learned that Dr. Bain is available only for special needs kids. For healthy kids, her team of 4-5 nurses see the kids, diagnose and prescribe if needed. Is that true? I would much rather see a less awesome doctor than be treated by her nurse!

Please ladies, give me some insight on this. Thank you!

Thank you!

If this is true, than that is "below standards" of care. An RN is not medically trained or licensed to diagnose and prescribe meds for any patient. I am an RN and know this as fact. I would never consider a physician like this to take care of my children.

There are several other pedis in your area that are awesome! Don't settle for your children!

She may be a good doctor, but it is very hard to get appointment for her. Don’t know who other people do it, but I was told from her office that I would have to wait 5 months to get an appointment for Dr. Bain.
We saw her nurse practitioner and was given wrong diagnoses, twice, for 2 different things. I don’t want my child to be seen by her anymore.

Good luck!

If any of you know of another doctor that is flexible with vaccines, please let me know.

We have seen Dr. Bain for years and love her! Never heard that she only see's special needs kids. I am sure "special needs" has wide array of meanings. I know her practice hired a new doc as well -- don't know his name and have not tried him. She has Physicians Assistant that is good. But, I always wait if necessary to see her. When its a simple matter (common cold), then her PA can see you quicker. I would stick with that solution after you have an established relationship with her and you are more comfortable. She's a great doc -- she is outside the box on mainstream medicine and highly values homeopathic remedy and nutrition as a first line of defense on most things.

Hi, I recently went to one of her Meet & Greets and was so impressed with her and Dr. Naidoo and staff that I am planning on taking my newborn to her practice, Healthy Kids Pediatrics.

We were told that for normal colds, ear aches, etc we would be seen by a nurse practitioner. Dr. Naidoo seemed really awesome too. Both Dr. Naidoo and Dr. Bain focus on spending the most of their time with the more serious cases and special needs/asthma etc.. and that gives me alot of peace of mind.

The staff is trained in the same holistic approach as Dr. Bain & Dr. Naidoo. Considering the lack of any Pediatric office with this kind of approach.. I feel lucky to have found them.

There is also a doctor in McKinney that gets rave reviews for having a natural approach. Dr. Chartrand

Not for sure where you are located, but Dr. Malcolm Davidson @ Medical City (Dallas) has treated our son for 13 years. He, imhp, is an awesome, old school pedi.
We had moved out of state for a few years, and you could tell the sincerity of the doc welcoming my son back.

Dr. Bain is amazing, as is her entire staff. I'm a mother of three, 8 and under, and I've been going to her for about 3.5 yrs. The nurse prac and recently added new Dr. are both equally as caring and have the same perspective as Dr. Bain. Last year my 5 year old was very sick and was admitted to the hospital, dr. Bain was informative and supportative throughout the process, from the initial visit to follow ups. I highly recommend her an her entire practice and won't be taking my kids anywhere else. She takes the medical care of children and puts it back in the parents control, I love her holistic approach, her knowledge and acceptance of the vaccine issue, and her overall practice. Hope this helps as the choice of a pediatrician is a big one!

I think the reason she may be considered awesome is that she is flexible on the the vaccine schedule and many of the special needs kids are vaccine injured.

We have gone to Dr Bain for 4 years. After not seeing her for a year, it has become obvious, over our past 3 visits, that her calm bedside manner and patient responses to parent questions have completely changed. She ordered an immediate MRI for my 6 month old because of an increased head circumference. When I questioned this and expressed worry (MRIs require sedation) she became noticeably frustrated and exasperated with me. This attitude carried over into a phone conversation the next day. She
wouldn't explain her logic or detail her concern ,except to say that the jump in head circumference could mean a mass. I have sought a second
and third opinions and done a ton of research, and it turns out a simple
sonogram on his fontanel ( soft spot) done at Children's Medical revealed
a perfectly healthy baby. I cringe to think of the complications that I could
have exposed our baby to had we done the sedation for an MRI. We have
decided to change pediatricians, and have chosen Dr LE Wolovits with At
Home Pediatrics.I found her on the Dr Sears website that lists vaccine friendly doctors in the area. We really like Dr LE. I highly recommend her. If you choose Dr Bain, or any doctor, never be afraid to question them and
to get a second, even third, opinion.
