Nah, I wouldn't worry about a thing. 4 weeks is pretty early. Some babies' eyes develop faster than others. As long as she is focusing on some things every once in a while, I would give her another month or two before becoming concerned. Hope this helps!

Remember that babies this young can only focus on objects a certain distance away; something like 8-18 inches. I wouldn't worry :)

My son is 5 weeks, he is our fourth... he doesn't seem to connect with me yet either. A few times I've felt like he's really seeing me and we've even gotten a few small smiles. If your doctor isn't worried sounds perfectly normal. :)

Funny thing about being a Mom, you spend so much time looking for the *next* big developmental milestone... then they get older and we long for when they were babies again. Just enjoy these early days and try not to worry. Since you have another child you already know how quickly it goes by.

I had the same issue with our newborn. He would love to stare at ceiling fans for the first month or so. Then he started noticing us around 2 months and he is 5 months now and all he does is stare at us so don't worry.

It's within normal limits. I also noticed the my first born made eye contact with me sooner than my second. My second seemed to do more looking around--not sure if that is her personality or because there's so much more excitement with a big brother in the house. =) She's 1 1/2 now and totally on track with her development and very socially engaged.
