My kids (9yo girl and 5 yo boy) do not have to many quircks about name brand clothing, and they have had a major growth spurt since December. Since quite a bit of the clothing we brought back with us from Germany is winter clothing and completely unnecessary here, so I need to find some small, inexpensive second-hand thrift stores with a good reputation. Does anyone have ideas or locations on anything like that here in San Antonio? Any suggesstions will be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I just wanted to thank everyone for their recommendations. We have checked out several of the places mentioned and I think I have gound a few that have good prices and clean looking clothing. I will still use WalMart for "New" stuff for pictures/holidays/special occasions.

Hi D.!
There is a great ON LINE place that you can go to buy, sell, etc. It is called ____@____.com and you can sell your items, place a post of "looking for" and people will respond straight to you with items that they have that they are looking to get rid of that you want (i.e. your children's clothes) etc. I have a 10yo girl & 4yo boy & use the site on a regular basis. It reminds me of this group, many people just want to help others! Hope this helps....oh, yes, I almost forgot....the garage sale place...is FREE!!!!

I went to the outlets in San Marcos yesterday. They were having some really great sales all over the place...I know Old Navy ALWAYS has great stuff for super cheap.

If I were you, I would go to Wal-Mart and purchase from the clearance racks and the shelves that have the Garanimals and the Hanes printed shirts and shorts. We went yesterday to get some things for my 9 yr old who is getting ready for camp, and got a lot for a little. Many of the tee shirts were less than 5 dollars.
A few weeks ago I went to the salvation Army out @ 281 and Stone oak with my friends' teenage daughter. We were looking for vintage but i skimmed thru the kids area just to see, and just like the other Salvation Army's they were very picked over, and the clothes were faded and stained.
If you are still inclined to go the second-hand route, there are some kids resale shops that buy and sell. (buy by appointment only) and their prices are discounted, but not impressive. Kid's Junction and Kid's Kingdom, or King's kids, something like that. My mom would buy a whole "lot" of items on ebay for my daughter for just a few bucks, and the things were very well preserved. You know what?? If your daughter is smaller than mine then chances are good that my very "big for her age" daughter will have outgrown half of her new things in just a few weeks time. Email me during the last 2 weeks of summer and I can put together a bag of her small things, some which will probaby still be new, since she is so darn picky...

Kid2Kid and Kid's Junction are te best. Kid's Junction is located in the Castle hill area everything is clean and they even buy your old stuff ( if it looks in good condition for store credit)

You might also try Too Good to be Threw. There main clothing store is on Blanco & 410 in the strip center on the corner right behind the Chinese Restaurant.

We have found lot of items for all three of my girls & myself there. The clothes are VERY clean, look like new & some do still have the original tags on them.
