Depends on how far along you are??? You should definitely CALL your doctor/midwife or whoever you are going through and tell them what is happening. They can instruct you from there based on your situation as to what you should do.

(They can induce you at any time if the baby is ready to come out but most doctors won't until you are at least AT or PAST your due date..... Unless your water has broken.)

You'll want to talk to your doctor or midwife, you can get induced at any time, but it's really a doctor specific thing. Each doctor has times and instances they will or won't induce a woman. As for your pains, anytime you're experiencing something that doesn't feel right then call a doctor or midwife. If you don't have one go to the nearest emergency room, or urgent care.

My doctor won't induce till you are 39 week and are favorable for induction. I think his criteria was 3 cms and at least 75% effaced..

Unless there was a medical complication in the pregnancy then he'd try to induce around 37 weeks unless earlier than that was called for.

You must keep in mind that OB/GYN's have the Most expensive insurance of any medical professional because they are sued so much. So they aren't likely to do ANYTHING that might cause them to get sued so most are very reluctant to do anything that isn't medically necessary. So before 39 weeks and being favorable isn't likely to happen.

Good luck though! To get induced at 37 weeks with pre-eclampsia I still had to get an Amnio to make sure my babies lungs were developed. That was in November. It sucked! I wished I'd just gone into labor on my own.

Unless there is a medical reason why you NEED to be induced, I highly recommend not doing it. I've had 2 inductions (one was 3 weeks early, the other was 8 days early) and they are AWFUL!!!!! I stuck it out with my 2nd baby; he was one day late but the labor and delivery was FAR easier than with the induced 1st and 3rd babies.
If your contractions are close together, yes, you should call your dr. or midwife. It is not uncommon to have occasional contractions for a few weeks before delivery, though.

im not sure what you are asking....

being dialated before giving birth is not an issue; i dialated 3 weeks before my son was born, and i was all the way to 4 1/2 cms before my doctor said it would be best if i stayed at the hospitol

one thing you shuold know; it is always preferrable to keep that baby in there as long as possible, even if it is at or after your due date, your baby will know when to come, and i doubt you will miss it if you really go into labor.

yes, if you are having pain, especially if you are sure they are contractions (you will catch your breath if they are real ones - it wont be comfortable) especially if they are coming less than 10 minutes apart, you should at least call the hospitol/doctor/midwife.

good luck! but dont be in a hurry to be induced, just try to be patient and take it easy.
