I am looking for a cooking class for my preteen son. He already cooks some here at home but wants to get more involved. We live in the Tomball area.

What can I do next?

Wow it seems lots of you are familiar with the academy in the woodlands. Thanks for all the responses. I'm sure I will be quite pleased with the classes.

Try the Young Chef's Academy on Research Forest in the Woodlands. They divide the kids according to age for their classes.

Hi C.

I have an 11 1/2 years old son who is very interested in cooking as well. We live in the woodlands. I haven't look for cooking classes but will keep an eye on your request, hopefully you'll get a good recommendation so I can take my son too. He loves to cook!

the YMCA in the woodlands (branch crossing) offers cooking classes for kids; i would assume other Y's offer the same.

I am not sure about cooking classes, but I know that Michael's has cake decorating classes. My son has taken those classes and he has made some awesome cakes. He just turned 16 but has been my "cook" since he was about 6 or 7 and still is. I hope you can find a "cook" class, but the cake decorating is awesome as well.

Good Luck

Hi C.! I don't know how frequently or how far you would like to travel, but I have friend in the Cypress area (off of 290) that loves teaching cooking, to all ages. I hesitate posting her email address here, because I don't know if she wants that, but you can email me at ____@____.com, and I can give you her email address.

I know the Y in The Woodlands offers cooking classes for kids and adults. I don't know if you've looked into the Y.

I run a cooking class of my own but it is specific to just Thai Food. Don't know if that's even a food type that you and your family like.

Good luck

Hi C.-

This may be farther then you'd like to drive, but there is a Young Chef's Academy in The Woodlands that offers cooking classes to kids of all ages. I've not had any experience with their classes however my son attended a birthday party there and it was great.

Good Luck,
K.

The kids for college brochures for Montgomery County should be out soon. They have cooking all summer long. There's 3 summer sessions. I think there's two levels. Tomball College has the program and Cyfair. Good luck.
