Hello moms,

I have a 10 year old daughter who loves to be in the kitchen cooking and helping me cook. Do you any of you know of place that gives cooking lessons to kids in the Cypress area?

What can I do next?

Ummm not to try and sound rude or anything but why not have her learn from you? That's how it was done for years before all the preppy soccer-mom-ditch-your-kid-classes appeard. How did you learn to cook? I would be willing to bet that you learned with your mom in your kitchen at home. And that way you get the bonding time and you pass down family recipies. A lot of these cooking classes teaches your child to use prime ingredients. When she's 20 and on her own she need to lean how to make something out of nothing, and that's something that cannot be taught in some fancy cooking school. Sorry if I sound rude or judgemental, it just really struck a nerve with me.

It sounds to me like you already let your daughter help you in the kitechen and you teach her, but you are just looking for some classes to enhance her learning. In addition to Young Chef's Academy, why not look into your local YMCA. I have noticed that they offer cooking classes for children.

It is great that she wants more cooking knowledge and I'll bet she has fun. Good luck!

This might be farther than you would like to go, but there is a Young Chef's Academy in The Woodlands. Here's the info. http://www.youngchefsacademy.com/.

Good Luck,

There is also a Young Chef's Academy in Katy. My 8 year old loves it! It is off Highland Knolls and the Grand Parkway. You can try it by paying one class at a time until you know if she loves it.

Hi have you tried HEB Central Market in Houston? there is one here in SA, they have classes for kids. They are pretty good too! My daughter is the same way too. She is now 12 and don't have to worry about her starving.
