Potty Training: Issues with # 2 - Frisco,TX

My 3 1/2 year old son stays dry while awake and always does # 1 in the potty. However, # 2 is a totally different story. He used to do # 2 on the potty but over the past 2-3 months...not so much. To my dismay, he prefers going in his underwear!! I have tried sticker charts, rewards, bribery, taking away toys, and having dedicated "sit on the potty time" but so far, nothing seems to work. I'm thinking it may be a control issue for him and feel it will pass but I still wonder if other mama's have gone through this and what methods have worked for them. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Mine did that until I made him clean himself completely with as little help from me as possible. I would hand him wipes and hold the plastic trash bag. But he had to take off the clothes (in the bath tub, easy to control and clorox later), he had to wipe himself clean and then take a quick shower (in water slightly colder than his normal comfortable temperature (NOT a cold shower, just not his ideal temperature).

He only had one accident after the first time...so once he knew he was in charge of cleaning up the mess...it stopped.

This might get me the Mean Mommy of the Year Award, but it worked...our daughter wouldn't poop in the potty...I was like you...I tried it all...we started with all the positive reinforcement then went to the negative. Nothing seemed to matter at all. I finally realized that I was tired of cleaning up poopy panties & I told my daughter so. I explained to her that since she was the one pooping in the panties, she was going to have to be the one to clean them up. I would usually rinse them out in the sink & then lay them over the side of the tub...so I had her do the same thing. It took about three times of cleaning up her own poopy panties before she decided it was better just to poop in the potty...problem solved!

My 3 1/2 yo daughter REFUSES to poop on the potty. She always pee's on the potty with no problem. But she will hold her poop until we put a diaper on her at night and then she goes and we have to put a clean diaper on her. My friends with older kids keep telling me she'll do it when she's ready & I really can't force her to. I wish she'd hurry! LOL

My now 4 year old does this some times. I finally got tired of throwing away underwear and have now cut out any tv or computer time for the entire day if he poops in his pants. He told me he doesn't want to poop in his pants anymore and is really trying. Some times it just takes them really wanting to do it. Good luck!!

Can he go with no pants, no underwear?
It will be easier for him to run in there and hop on the pot.
