Hi.. i have a 19 mth old girl.. i am interested in getting her into a playgroup of some kind, yet i am having issues trying to find some..Does anyone have any ideas. Alot of my friends have to work during the day, and have daycare. And i feel that my child is missing out in socialization with kids her age, due to being home with me.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

If you live in Plymouth there is a wonderful program called Plymouth Family Network which runs several playgroups a week. Their phone number is ###-###-#### You need to be a resident of Plymouth and all programs are free. Once the cold weather arrives you may want to join Gymboree play and music located right next door to Plymouth Family Network. They are located at 91 Carver Road. I take my 9 month old daughter to the under ones playgroup and have met many moms this way. My daughter loves to play with the other children. The Plymouth Public Library on South Street offers Tots n Tales on Wed and Thurs at 11:00am. They offer the same program in Manomet on Mondays at 11am. Jordan Hospital also offers a playgroup for young toddlers and parents on Mondays from 9:30-11:30. Call ###-###-#### and talk to Sue West. I go to Jordan Hospital the infant group and have met many moms this way as well. We do many things with our infants and have found that not only do the kids get socialization but it is a way for the moms to feel a sense of connection with other moms who stay at home. I sure hope this information helps you out.

Hi I live in Plymouth too and found out about Plymouth Famly Network. It is free and there are many playgroups. There are different playgroups all over plymouth and some are for different ages. You have to sign up because they only allow 12 kids in a group at a time and they are 7 week sessions for an hour and a have. I just started one at the begining of September and it is in Manomet every tues. My girls are just 2 and 6 months and they like it. The office and where some of the groups are is at exit 6 in where ocean state and planet fitness is. It is on the side with gymboree and the consignment store. The dates for the next registration is 10-29-08 and the groups start on 11/3. The number is ###-###-#### they will send you a newsletter of all the things they do. Maybe I will see you in one of them

L.,

Look at the bulletin boards at the library. Typically, there are some playgroups listed up there and some that are ran by the library.

As for the worries of not socializing, stop worrying. The fact that you are looking for outside socialization shows that you want the best for your child. Children do not have to go to daycare to "socialize".
