Hello all! I'm new to the Rocky River area and am looking to find fun activities for my 9 month old daughter Holly and I to enjoy. If anyone has any suggestions for us, I would greatly appreciate the input. Thanks!

Hi M.!
I moved to Ohio(from GA) when my first was 9 months and have made some great friends and, best of all, joined a playgroup with same aged children through the Early Childhood PTA.
Here's the website for Rocky River - www.rrecpta.org - but I would also invite you to join Lakewood's group - www.lecpta.com. You don't have to live in Lakewood to be a member and we have tons of activities, socials, children's parties, playgroups and even "Baby & Toddler" tours geared just for the 0-3 age group. You can e-mail me off-group at ____@____.com for more info!
Good luck!

Hi M.-
Welcome to Rocky River! There are lots of great kid-friendly things to do.
I would recommend:
Walking on the Brad Street pier off Lake Road- my son loved it from 7-10 months. He loved seeing the ducks and hearing the sounds of the waves crashing on the pier.
Lake Erie Nature & Science Center- located off Wolf Road in Bay Village. It is awesome to take out the kids to see animals and fish. It is admission by donation so it doesn't break the bank.
Huntington Beach area- there are walking trails all around the area as well as a Honey Hut ice cream stand (always good for mom!) We do picnic lunches there sometimes. Plus there are swings and lots of benches to relax if it is a quick stop.
Rocky River Metroparks- also great for walks! It is fun to drive along the Parkway and see all the difference areas to stop. There is also a nature center type area too.
I would also try to pick up a copy of Cleveland Family or Cleveland and Akron Parent magazine that will keep you up to date with events around town.
Enjoy the summer!
I am in the middle of trying to discuss either gymboree or Little gym have you tried theM yet?
HI M.,
I took my daughter to The Little Gym when she turned 9 months (she is now 4.5). We attended the one in North Olmsted but they have since relocated to Westgate Plaza in Fairview Park. It's probably not too far from where you live. It is a bit on the pricey side but I just enrolled my 20 month old son there. We do a Parent/child class on Tuesdays. It is a 45 minute class and the teachers there are FANTASTIC!!!!! we love Miss Jennifer and Mr. Brian. They have classes for children your daughter's age. And you can go for a free trial day to see if you like it. I would suggest going to The Little Gym website and checking out their facility. It will give you specific times and days for your daughter's age group.
You might also want to check out the Westlake YMCA or even see if Rocky River, which they probably do, has a Park and Rec contact. We are in North Ridgeville andI know that we have one. And my last suggestion would be to look into your local PTA because they sometimes have groups for parents of really young children. And there is also MOPS (Mom's of Preschoolers) and many Mom's clubs out there.
Best of luck on your search.

Rocky River has a great Rec Center. Check into it and ask for the booklet of activities. Maybe you'll find something!
My daughter (now 11 mo.) and I go to the Zoo a lot on Mondays. It's free, which makes me feel better since it's usually a fairly short visit.
My nanny has taken her to the Children's Museum and the Science Center which are mostly geared for older kids but our Nanny said she had fun.
We also live by and frequently shop at the West Side Market. She loves seeing lots of people and now she has a lot of fans at the market.
I've heard the Rocky River library is great. We go to the downtown branch where they have a few toys and lots of board books.
Hope this helps some.
Have you checked into the Rocky River Early Childhood PTA? This group has activities for children up to preschool age. Check out www.RRECPTA.org
